Synthesis Of Copper Nano/Microparticles Via Thermal Decomposition And Their Conversion To Copper Oxide Film, Çağdaş Allahverdi̇

Copper nano/microparticles were synthesized in octadecene at 290 °C by thermal decomposition method. Copper acetate monohydrate, stearic acid, and 1-octadecanol were used as copper precursor, capping and mild reducing agents, respectively, at the synthesis. Borosilicate glass substrates submerged into the reaction solution during the synthesis were coated by copper nano/ microparticles. Thermal decomposition and coating techniques were combined in this study. Copper nano/microparticles were thoroughly characterised via X-ray powder diffraction, X-ray photoelectron, Raman, and attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopies, and scanning and transmission electron microscopies. In this study, preconcentration conditions of trace amounts of copper ions were investigated with solid-phase extraction (SPE) method by synthesizing activated carbon-based ion-imprinted sorbent (Cu(II)-IAC) with a novel and selective approach. Flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) was used for the determination of metal ions concentrations. For the characterization of the sorbents, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray (SEM/EDX) analysis, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) were used. Chemical absorption of CO2 into aqueous amine solutions using a nonstirred bubble column was experimentally investigated. The performance of CO2 absorption of four different primary and secondary amines including monoethanolamine (MEA), piperazine (PZ), 2-piperidineethanol (2PE), and homopiperazine (HPZ) were compared. The effects of initial concentration of amine, the inlet mole fraction of CO2, and solution temperature on the rate of CO2 absorption and CO2 loading (mol CO2/mol amine) were studied in the range of 0.02-1 M, 0.10-0.15, and 25-40 °C, respectively. This study is the development of a new solid phase extraction method based on using magnetic multiwalled carbon nanotubes impregnated with 1-(2-pyridylazo)2-naphthol (PAN) for separation, preconcentration, and flame atomic absorption spectrometric determination of Pb(II) and Cu(II). Optimization of the method was done by investigating pH effect, amount of magnetic multiwalled carbon nanotubes impregnated with PAN, eluent type and volume, matrix effects, and volume of the sample. Two naphthalene pyrazole ligands were synthesized using KOH/DMSO and Cu catalyst and characterized with FT-IR, ESIMS, 1H, and 13C NMR spectroscopies. The crystal structures of 1-(2-methylnaphthalen-1-yl)-1H-pyrazole (MeNap-Pz) ligand have been determined with X-ray crystal structure analysis. Reaction of the ligands with Cu(NO3)2x3.5H2O gave two new complexes and characterized with magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, FT-IR, LCMS-MS, ICP-OES, NMR, thermogravimetric analysis, and ESR spectra. The spectral data of the ligands are coordinated to the metal ion through the nitrogen atoms of the pyrazole ring. A general synthetic method was improved to synthesize a chemosensor based on a tripodal Bodipy (t-BODIPY) structure. The product and its intermediate products were successfully prepared and fully characterized. The metal ion sensing performance of the tripodal compound was evaluated by UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopies. According to the obtained data, t-BODIPY is a selective and sensitive fluorescence probe for detection of Cu2+ ions in the presence and in the absence of competing ions. In this study, new chalcone compound 1, new phthalonitrile derivatives 2 and 3, new copper(II), manganese(III) phthalocyanines bearing chalcone groups at peripheral or nonperipheral positions were synthesized. Electrochemistry of tetra-(4- {(2E)-3-[2-fluoro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]prop-2-enoyl}phenoxy) substituted Co(II)Pc and Mn(III)Pcs were studied with cyclic voltammetry (CV) to determine the redox properties of the phthalocyanines. According to the results, while the CuPcs 2a and 3a showed two Pc based reduction reactions and one Pc based oxidation reaction, MnPcs 2b and 3b gave two metal-based reduction reactions. A fluorogenic probe based on a coumarin-derivative for Cu$^{2+}$ sensing in CH$_{3}$CN/H$_{2}$O media (v/v, 95/5, 5.0 \textmu M) was developed and applied in real samples. 3-(4-chlorophenyl)-6,7-dihydroxy-coumarin (MCPC) probe was obtained by synthetic methodologies and identified by spectral techniques. The probe MCPC showed remarkable changes with a ``turn-off'' fluorogenic sensing approach for the monitoring of Cu$^{2+}$ at 456 nm under an excitation wavelength of 366 nm. The response time of the probe MCPC was founded as only 1 min. The detection limit of the probe MCPC was recorded to be 1.47 nM. NH$_{3}$ adsorption and desorption behavior of a commercial Cu-chabazite (CHA) NH$_{3}$ selective catalytic reduction (NH$_{3}$-SCR) catalyst was studied in the presence and absence of H$_{2}$O. NH$_{3}$ uptake values at various adsorption temperatures were obtained during various steps of the adsorption and temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) experiments. Total NH$_{3}$ uptake decreased from 4.6 to 1.6 g NH$_{3}$/L catalyst when the adsorption temperature was increased from 50 to 300 $^{\circ}$C. Three major adsorption sites for NH$_{3}$ adsorption could be identified and quantified using TPD experiments, namely loosely, moderately, and strongly bound NH$_{3}$ with peak centers at around 147, 266, and 447 $^{\circ}$C. A novel adsorbent Fe$_{3}$O$_{4}$/Ni/Ni$_{x}$B nanocomposite was synthesized and used for the adsorption of copper. Moreover, natural adsorbents carob and grape seeds were used for this purpose. The surfaces and the elemental compositions of the adsorbents were characterized by SEM-EDX. The zero point charges of pH of Fe$_{3}$O$_{4}$/Ni/Ni$_{x}$B nanocomposite, carob, and grape seeds were found as 8.4, 6.0, and 5.6, respectively. The Langmuir, Freundlich, and Dubinin--Radushkevich isotherm models were used for the identification of the mechanism of the adsorption. Copper catalysts were simply fabricated through surface modification of superparamagnetic iron nanoparticles with indoline-2,3-dione(isatin)-Schiff-base and interaction with Cu from low-cost commercially available starting materials. Catalysts were characterized using atomic absorption spectrophotometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, vibrating sample magnetometry, UV/Vis spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. These catalysts showed high efficiency for phosphine-free Mizoroki--Heck and Suzuki--Miyaura cross-coupling reactions with good diversity and generality. The catalysts could be easily recovered and reused several times without a significant loss in their catalytic activity and stability.

The Harşit-Köprübaşı (Tirebolu) and Killik (Espiye) volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits occur in the Eastern Pontide tectonic belt, one of the major tectonic units comprising Anatolia. They are hosted by Late Cretaceous dacitic to rhyolitic rocks overlain by thin layers of pelitic sediments. The region is considered as a metallogenic province since it is a host to numerous VMS deposits, mainly of the Kuroko type, with varying sizes and reserves and with fairly similar geochemical and mineralogical characteristics. The tetradentate ligand 6,6'-diacetyl-2,2'-bipyridine dioxime (L) was obtained in high yield by the condensation reaction of 6,6'-diacetyl-2,2'-bipyridine with hydroxyl amine in alkaline solution. Density functional calculations and 3D modeling of the structure at the B3LYP/6-31G(d) level of theory for L revealed that the energy difference between the global trans conformer (trans-L), which possesses the C_{2h} point group, and the distorted cis conformer (cis-L) was 5.214 kcal/mol. A sensitive and selective method for the simultaneous determination of copper and cadmium in seawater, river water, and tea samples is described. The method is based on the adsorptive accumulation of 2,2--dithiosalicylic acid complexes of these elements onto a hanging mercury drop electrode, followed by reduction of adsorbed species by voltammetric scan using differential pulse modulation. Optimal analytical conditions were as follows: ligand concentration of 11 nM, pH of 9.5, and an adsorption potential at --300 mV versus Ag/AgCl, with an accumulation time of 60 s. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry were used to investigate the oxide layer formed on a copper disc electrode and the changes that took place when treated potentiostatically in the range of -0.3 V to 0.9 V in aqueous buffer solution of pH 9.2. 1-(2-Pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN) has been used for the simultaneous determination of copper and cobalt at trace levels. PAN at pH 1.89 forms red and green complexes with copper and cobalt, respectively, which are soluble in aqueous Tween 80 micellar media and are stable for at least 3 days. Most skarn deposits are directly related to magmatic activity, and there is a systematic correlation between the composition of causative plutons and the metal contents of the related skarns. This paper documents the composition of facies within the Evciler pluton and correlations between intrusion composition and the metal contents of associated skarns. A differential pulse polarographic method for the determination of copper, zinc and selenium in chicken liver is described. It was possible to determine these elements in a single sample solution after acid digestion. Dried liver samples weighing about 3 g were digested using HNO_{3} and HClO_{4} acids. Britton-Robinson or acetate buffer has been found suitable as the supporting electrolyte. For the determination of selenium, the hydrogen catalytic peak was used after the addition of molybdenum(VI) to the buffer solution at about pH 3. The thermionic vacuum arc (TVA) discharge with evaporating anodes employing directly heated thermionic cathodes is investigated. The TVA discharge generates a pure, gas-free metal vapor plasma containing ions with a directed energy. The TVA is strongly controlled by the cathodic electron beam and there is a quite good stability of important operation parameters like the arc voltage and the arc current.

A simple, selective and rapid method for determining trace amounts of copper(II) ions in various types of water samples using atomic absorption spectrophotometry was investigated. Copper(II) ions from water samples were preconcentrated by solid phase extraction using octadecyl silica membrane disks modified with 3-{2-[2-(2-hydroxyimino- 1-methyl-propylideneamino)-ethylamino]-ethyl-imino}-butan-2-one oxime, (H_{2}mdo). A solid-phase extraction method was developed for the pre-concentration of manganese, copper, cadmium and lead in water samples prior to their determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry using phenylpiperazine dithiocarbamate as a new reagent. The optimum pre-concentration conditions have been investigated such as pH, volume of sample solution and the effects of some matrix elements. The obtained recovery was nearly 90 to 100, while the enrichment factor was 400 for metal spiked solutions.

Using lead 4-benzylpiperidinedithiocarbamate complex (Pb(4-BPDC)_{2}), a solid-phase extraction method was developed for pre-concentration and spectrophotometric determination of copper in water samples. In this method, copper in large volume liquid phase quantitatively replaces lead on colorless Pb(4-BPDC)_{2} complex and naphthalene solid phase mixture forming Cu-4-benzylpiperidinedithiocarbamate complex (Cu(4-BPDC)_{2}). The solid phase containing colored Cu(4-BPDC)_{2} is dissolved in chloroform and its absorbance is measured at 437 nm against the reagent blank.
