Clay Mineral Association In The Salt Formation Of The Transylvanian Basin And Its Paleoenvironmental Significance, Nicoleta Bican-Bris̡An, Alexandru Hosu
Clay Mineral Association In The Salt Formation Of The Transylvanian Basin And Its Paleoenvironmental Significance, Nicoleta Bican-Bris̡An, Alexandru Hosu
Studia UBB Geologia
The investigated clay fraction was separated from salt samples recovered from three boreholes located in the Praid salt deposit area. For comparison, samples collected from Turda deposit (Franz Josef adit, the Rudolf and Ghizele chambers) and from the salt massif from Sărăţel were also analyzed. The qualitative investigations evidenced a clay minerals association dominated by illite and chlorite accompanied by subordinate amounts of kaolinite, smectite, fibrous clays (sepiolite, palygorskite), and in minor amounts, by 14/14 chlorite/vermiculite and chlorite/smectite interstratifications. A quantitative evaluation (%) including a standard graphical representation was performed only for the borehole samples (Praid), according to the vertical …
Arenite Concretions With Axial Channel From The Badenian Deposits Of Cheia (Turda) - A New Type Of Concretions, Ioan Mârza, Ciprian Constantina, Horea PâRlea
Arenite Concretions With Axial Channel From The Badenian Deposits Of Cheia (Turda) - A New Type Of Concretions, Ioan Mârza, Ciprian Constantina, Horea PâRlea
Studia UBB Geologia
The paper introduces a new type of arenite concretions (max. 40-50 cm in diameter). Spheroidal concretions with an axial cylindrical channel (1-6 cm in diameter) resulted from the levigation of the concretion centre consisting of soft fusiform clasts with a clayey-carbonate composition. The concretions are hosted by a level of Badenian sandstones and microconglomerates (about 10-m thick) which occur in the place called “Groapa cu Piersici” (Cheia, Turda).
Liotia Ornata N.Sp. (Mollusca, Gastropoda) From Badenian Of Borod Basin (Nw Romania), Mirela Popa
Liotia Ornata N.Sp. (Mollusca, Gastropoda) From Badenian Of Borod Basin (Nw Romania), Mirela Popa
Studia UBB Geologia
A new small-sized gastropod species was identified in Badenian deposits (Borod Formation) in the eastern part of Borod Basin (west of Apuseni Mts.), and was described in this study under Liotia ornata n. sp.
New Data On The Volcanic Tuff From Petrestii De Jos (Cluj District), Horea Bedelean, Ioan Ivan, Dana Pop, Ioan Bedelean, Gheorghe Pleșoiu
New Data On The Volcanic Tuff From Petrestii De Jos (Cluj District), Horea Bedelean, Ioan Ivan, Dana Pop, Ioan Bedelean, Gheorghe Pleșoiu
Studia UBB Geologia
The present study was carried out on the cineritic interlayers from Petreştii de Jos (closed quarry from Indolului Valley), in order to present their detailed mineralogical-petrographical features. Previous work already noticed the similarity of this tuff level with Dej Tuff Complex in other areas. The studied outcrop consists of a compact volcanic tuff interlayered with marls and tuffaceous clays. The analytical investigations: chemical analyses, X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy and electron microscopy reveal the nature of the diagenetic transformations dominated by zeolitization. Besides clinoptilolite, which is the typical zeolite for Dej Tuff from the Transylvanian Depression, our investigation evidenced also the …
Badenian Mollusks From Rachitova (Hateg Depression, Romania), Mirela Popa, Constantin Ianoliu
Badenian Mollusks From Rachitova (Hateg Depression, Romania), Mirela Popa, Constantin Ianoliu
Studia UBB Geologia
The paper presents in systematic order the mollusk assemblage collected from one outcrop on Lacului Brook (left tributary to Răchitova Valley). There were identified 33 taxa (22 gastropods, 9 bivalves and 2 scaphopods) and the whole assemblage is characteristic to the Badenian deposits in the studied area.
