Customer churn, a phenomenon that causes large financial losses when customers leave a business, makes it difficult for modern organizations to retain customers. When dissatisfied customers find their present company's services inadequate, they frequently migrate to another service provider. Machine learning and deep learning (ML/DL) approaches have already been used to successfully identify customer churn. In some circumstances, however, ML/DL-based algorithms lacks in delivering promising results for detecting client churn. Previous research on estimating customer churn revealed unexpected forecasts when utilizing machine learning classifiers and traditional feature encoding methodologies. Deep neural networks were also used in these efforts to extract …

Emerging in the realm of bioinformatics, plant bioinformatics integrates computational and statistical methods to study plant genomes, transcriptomes, and proteomes. With the introduction of high-throughput sequencing technologies and other omics data, the demand for automated methods to analyze and interpret these data has increased. We propose a novel explainable gradient-based approach EG-CNN model for both omics data and hyperspectral images to predict the type of attack on plants in this study. We gathered gene expression, metabolite, and hyperspectral image data from plants afflicted with four prevalent diseases: powdery mildew, rust, leaf spot, and blight. Our proposed EG-CNN model employs a …

Online discussion forums are repositories of valuable information where users interact and articulate their ideas and opinions, and share experiences about numerous topics. These online discussion forums are internet-based online communities where users can ask for help and find the solution to a problem. A new user of online discussion forums becomes exhausted from reading the significant number of irrelevant replies in a discussion. An automated discussion thread summarizing system (DTS) is necessary to create a candid view of the entire discussion of a query. Most of the previous approaches for automated DTS use the continuous bag of words (CBOW) …

There are a variety of reasons why smartphones have grown so pervasive in our daily lives. While their benefits are undeniable, Android users must be vigilant against malicious apps. The goal of this study was to develop a broad framework for detecting Android malware using multiple deep learning classifiers; this framework was given the name DroidMDetection. To provide precise, dynamic, Android malware detection and clustering of different families of malware, the framework makes use of unique methodologies built based on deep learning and natural language processing (NLP) techniques. When compared to other similar works, DroidMDetection (1) uses API calls and …

Continuous monitoring of patients involves collecting and analyzing sensory data from a multitude of sources. To overcome communication overhead, ensure data privacy and security, reduce data loss, and maintain efficient resource usage, the processing and analytics are moved close to where the data are located (e.g., the edge). However, data quality (DQ) can be degraded because of imprecise or malfunctioning sensors, dynamic changes in the environment, transmission failures, or delays. Therefore, it is crucial to keep an eye on data quality and spot problems as quickly as possible, so that they do not mislead clinical judgments and lead to the …

Using Deep Learning Model To Identify Iron Chlorosis In Plants, Munir Majdalawieh, Shafaq Khan, Md. T. Islam May 2023

Using Deep Learning Model To Identify Iron Chlorosis In Plants, Munir Majdalawieh, Shafaq Khan, Md. T. Islam

All Works

Iron deficiency in plants causes iron chlorosis which frequently occurs in soils that are alkaline (pH greater than 7.0) and that contain lime. This deficiency turns affected plant leaves to yellow, or with brown edges in advanced stages. The goal of this research is to use the deep learning model to identify a nutrient deficiency in plant leaves and perform soil analysis to identify the cause of the deficiency. Two pre-trained deep learning models, Single Shot Detector (SSD) MobileNet v2 and EfficientDet D0, are used to complete this task via transfer learning. This research also contrasts the architecture and performance …

Plants play a crucial role in supplying food globally. Various environmental factors lead to plant diseases which results in significant production losses. However, manual detection of plant diseases is a time-consuming and error-prone process. It can be an unreliable method of identifying and preventing the spread of plant diseases. Adopting advanced technologies such as Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) can help to overcome these challenges by enabling early identification of plant diseases. In this paper, the recent advancements in the use of ML and DL techniques for the identification of plant diseases are explored. The research focuses on …

Facial expression is a type of communication and is useful in many areas of computer vision, including intelligent visual surveillance, human-robot interaction and human behavior analysis. A deep learning approach is presented to classify happy, sad, angry, fearful, contemptuous, surprised and disgusted expressions. Accurate detection and classification of human facial expression is a critical task in image processing due to the inconsistencies amid the complexity, including change in illumination, occlusion, noise and the over-fitting problem. A stacked sparse auto-encoder for facial expression recognition (SSAE-FER) is used for unsupervised pre-training and supervised fine-tuning. SSAE-FER automatically extracts features from input images, and …

Social bots are automated social media accounts governed by software and controlled by humans at the backend. Some bots have good purposes, such as automatically posting information about news and even to provide help during emergencies. Nevertheless, bots have also been used for malicious purposes, such as for posting fake news or rumour spreading or manipulating political campaigns. There are existing mechanisms that allow for detection and removal of malicious bots automatically. However, the bot landscape changes as the bot creators use more sophisticated methods to avoid being detected. Therefore, new mechanisms for discerning between legitimate and bot accounts are …
