Movie Recommendation System Using Content Based Filtering, Sribhashyam Rakesh

Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences

The movie recommendation system plays a crucial role in assisting movie enthusiasts in finding movies that match their interests, saving them from the overwhelming task of sifting through countless options. In this paper, we present a content-grounded movie recommendation system that leverages an attribute-based approach to offer personalized movie suggestions to users. The proposed method focuses on attributes such as cast, keywords, crew, and genres of movies to predict users' preferences accurately. Through extensive evaluation, our content-grounded recommendation system demonstrated significant improvements in performance compared to conventional methods. The precision and recall scores increased by an average of 20% and …

Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences

A new micell-mediated phase separation technique has been created to preconcentrate levels of iron before measuring it using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The method is based on the extraction of iron from the 1-Nitroso-2- naphthol reagent using Triton X-114 in a cloud point extraction procedure, where the method's ideal conditions were attained. 0.2 mL of Triton X-114, 2.887 mmol. L-1 of 1-Nitroso-2-naphthol reagent, pH = 8, 60 ºC. The Iron detection limit for the method is 0.05 µg. mL-1, and the RSD% is 4.728 µg. mL-1. Linearity was maintained in the iron concentration range of 0.25 to 16 µg. mL-1. Furthermore, …

⊕-Supplemented Semimodules, Ahmed H. Alwan

Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences

In this paper, ⊕-Supplemented Semimodules are defined as generalizations of ⊕-Supplemented modules. Let S be a semiring. An S-semimodule A is named a ⊕-supplemented semimodule, if every subsemimodule of A has a supplement which is a direct summand of A. In this paper, we investigate some properties of ⊕-supplemented semimodules besides generalize certain results on ⊕-supplemented modules to semimodules.

Improving The Structural And Physical Yield Of Aluminum By Repeated Additions Of Iron Carbide, Fayrooz K. Albasri Sep 2023

Improving The Structural And Physical Yield Of Aluminum By Repeated Additions Of Iron Carbide, Fayrooz K. Albasri

Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences

Aluminum suffers from low hardness and some ductility when thermal sintering which requires reinforcement with carbide or ceramic materials as Iron FeC with volumetric properties (2,4,6,8,10 )%. For purpose of the pressing process after mixing the two powder together, a scanning electron microscope examination performed for the prepared samples and found that there is a surface and structural consistency between aluminum and iron carbide and the best homogeneity is at10 % of carbide. Also some physical tests conducted for prepared samples and the results of the real density showed that the addition of iron carbide increases the density gradually and …

Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences

Pressing powders and engineering materials is an innovative method for producing samples with a low cost and multiple industrial applications. In the current article, copper metal was added in different volume ratios to a ceramic material, alumina, for the purpose of improving the properties of alumina, by pressing with a hydraulic press. Where the results of the article showed that the percentage of true porosity after sintering is from (26-13)% with a copper content of (5%) to (25%). As for the apparent porosity after sintering, it decreased from (26-9)% at a copper content of (5-25)%, while the water absorption was …

The Analytic Solution Of Non-Linear Burgers–Huxley Equations Using The Tanh Method, Kabir Oluwatobi Idowu, Adedapo Chris Loyinmi

Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences

The emergence of the Burgers-Huxley equation (which involves the famous Burgers equation and the Huxley equation) to predict response systems, dispersion moves, and nerve charge transmission in traffic patterns, sound, turbulent conditions theory, hydrodynamics has attracted the attention of scientists to provide reliable and efficient solutions to the problem. The present work employed the Tanh method to solve the Burgers-Huxley nonlinear partial differential equations. In contrast to previous results with complicated and laborious solution characteristics, this method is accurate, efficient, and requires little computational work. In showing this, we solved four Burgers-Huxley case study problems using the Tanh approach and …

Enhanced Acousto-Optic Properties Of Silicon Carbide Based Layered Structure, Namrata Dewan Soni

Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences

This study investigates the feasibility of using silicon carbide-based layered surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices in acousto-optic applications. The acousto-optic properties of the temperature-stable layered structure TeO3/SiC/128oY-X LiNbO3 are investigated through theoretical analysis. This analysis includes the evaluation of key parameters such as the overlap integral, figure of merit, and diffraction efficiency. The SAW propagation characteristics and field profiles required for these calculations are obtained using SAW software. Results show that the layered structure has high diffraction efficiency of nearly 96% and a promising value for the acousto-optic figure of merit, indicating potential use in low driving power acousto-optic devices. …

Cancellation And Weak Cancellation S-Acts, Samer Adnan Jubair

Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences

The purpose of this work is to introduce and study a generalization of the cancellation (weak cancellation) of modules to acts. Then some notions related of modules was extend to arbitrary acts. Several statements that are equivalent to the cancellation (weak cancellation) property have been studied. Some characterizations of cancellation (weak cancellation) acts was presented and derive many of their properties. Using the condition of multiplication acts various results of cancellation (weak cancellation) acts are investigated.

Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences

A review of the literature on chemically responsive hydrogels about the selection of selectivity based on classification, properties, and application is presented in this article. Chemically responsive hydrogels are a type of hydrogel that undergo changes in their properties in response to specific stimuli. These hydrogels have attracted significant attention due to their potential applications in various fields, including pharmaceuticals and agriculture. Chemically crosslinked hydrogels are synthesized by covalent crosslinking of end-functionalized macromeres. Currently, a great deal of research is being conducted on hydrogel networks, also known as smart networks or hungry networks. This is owing to their potential use …

A New Generalized Gamma-Weibull Distribution And Its Applications, Nihimat Iyebuhola Aleshinloye, Samuel Adewale Aderoju, Alfred Adewole Abiodun, Bako Lukmon Taiwo

Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences

In this paper, a New Generalized Gamma-Weibull (NGGW) distribution is developed by compounding Weibull and generalized gamma distribution. Some mathematical properties such as moments, Rényi entropy and order statistics are derived and discussed. The maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) method is used to estimate the model parameters. The proposed model is applied to two real-life datasets to illustrate its performance and flexibility as compared to some other competing distributions. The results obtained show that the new distribution fits each of the data better than the other competing distributions.

Biasing Estimator To Mitigate Multicollinearity In Linear Regression Model, Abdulrasheed Bello Badawaire, Issam Dawoud, Adewale Folaranmi Lukman, Victoria Laoye, Arowolo Olatunji

Al-Bahir Journal for Engineering and Pure Sciences

A new two-parameter estimator was developed to combat the threat of multicollinearity for the linear regression model. Some necessary and sufficient conditions for the dominance of the proposed estimator over ordinary least squares (OLS) estimator, ridge regression estimator, Liu estimator, KL estimator, and some two-parameter estimators are obtained in the matrix mean square error sense. Theory and simulation results show that, under some conditions, the proposed two-parameter estimator consistently dominates other estimators considered in this study. The real-life application result follows suit.
