Preparation, Assessment, And Swelling Study Of Amphiphilic Acrylic Acid/Chitosan-Based Semi-Interpenetrating Hydrogels, Mohammad Reza Jozaghkar, Amir Sepehrianazar, Farshid Ziaee, Fakhrosadat Mirtaleb

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The aim of this study was to synthesize amphiphilic semi-IPN hydrogels based on acrylic acid (AA) and chitosan (CS) using AIBN as an initiator and N,N?methylene bis acrylamide as a crosslinking agent. The swelling behavior of the hydrogels was evaluated at a variety of pH values, temperature, the salinity of media and time, and the swelling mechanism was investigated using Fickian diffusion and Schott's 2nd-order-kinetics models. FTIR spectroscopy was used to confirm the synthesis of AA/CS hydrogel. The swelling results showed that, in the acidic media, as the CS content increase the hydrogel swelling ratio reduces. It was found that …

Drug Delivery System For Controlled Release Of Empagliflozin From Alginate-Chitosannanocarrier System, Nasim Ramazanzadeh, Nosrat O. Mahmoodi Jan 2022

Drug Delivery System For Controlled Release Of Empagliflozin From Alginate-Chitosannanocarrier System, Nasim Ramazanzadeh, Nosrat O. Mahmoodi

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

biocompatible nanocarrier system was prepared in this research through the reaction of calcium alginate (CA) with chitosan (CS). The structure of developed nanocarriers (CS-CA) was characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transforms infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) atomic force microscopy (AFM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Swelling properties of CS-CA and CA, and their ability for loading and in vitro release of empagliflozin (EMP) were also investigated. The results showed the higher loading capacity of CS-CA compared to CA. For both nanocarriers, the drug release was higher at neutral pH (7.4 and 6.8) …

The Investigation Of Parameters Affecting Ibrutinib Release From Chitosan/ Tripolyphosphate/Carbon Nanofiber Composite Microspheres, Canan Armutcu Jan 2022

The Investigation Of Parameters Affecting Ibrutinib Release From Chitosan/ Tripolyphosphate/Carbon Nanofiber Composite Microspheres, Canan Armutcu

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

This study described the performance of carbon nanofiber modified chitosan (CNF@CS) composite microspheres for the controlled release of the Ibrutinib (IBR) drug. The surface morphology, particle sizes, and functional group contents of the microspheres were characterized by attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), scanning electron, and optical microscopy measurements. The obtained data demonstrated that the addition of CNF to the microsphere increased the encapsulation efficiency of the IBR while allowing the controlled and gradual release of the drug. In terms of the encapsulation efficiency and drug release rate, IBR@CS/TPP/CNF microspheres, achieving drug encapsulation efficiency of 83.09%, have the most …

Investigation Of Boron Nanosized Particles Prepared With Various Surfactants And Chitosan In Terms Of Physical Stability And Cell Viability, Emrah Özakar, Mehmet Semi̇h Bi̇ngöl, Ruki̇ye Sevi̇nç Özakar Jan 2022

Investigation Of Boron Nanosized Particles Prepared With Various Surfactants And Chitosan In Terms Of Physical Stability And Cell Viability, Emrah Özakar, Mehmet Semi̇h Bi̇ngöl, Ruki̇ye Sevi̇nç Özakar

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Nanosuspensions (NS) are one of the new generation drug carrier forms developed to overcome the deficiencies of drugs with poor water solubility or insolubility and are considered to be one of the most successful approaches to formulate compounds in recent years. Boron nitride (BN) is insoluble in water and chemically more stable than carbon, it offers better biological superiority although the application of carbon structures in the biomedical field has increased in recent years. Chitosan is a polymer with excellent processability and biocompatibility thanks to its high dielectric constant. In addition, chitosan has a high affinity for metal ions. This …

Synthesis Of Modified Nanocomposite Material And Its Use On Removal Of Cesium Fromaqueous Media, Bi̇lal Çeti̇n, Mustafa Özcan, Bektaş Karakelle

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

A nanocomposite containing Fe3O4, chitosan (Ch), and hexacyanoferrate (HCF) was synthesized in the form of powder. The physicochemical properties of this nanocomposite are determined using different techniques including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The existence of Cs (Cs) ions onto the surface of the nanocomposite was verified by dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). FTIR spectra confirmed that the nanocomposite was well coordinated. The batch technique was applied to evaluate the influences of initial pH value, temperature, contact time, shaking rate, initial Cs concentration, and competing cations on the efficiency of Cs …
