Multiobjective Daily Volt/Var Control In Distribution Systems With Distributed Generation Using Binary Ant Colony Optimization, Reza Azimi, Saeid Esmaeili Jan 2013

Multiobjective Daily Volt/Var Control In Distribution Systems With Distributed Generation Using Binary Ant Colony Optimization, Reza Azimi, Saeid Esmaeili

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper presents a multiobjective daily voltage and reactive power control (Volt/VAr) in radial distribution systems, including distributed generation units. The main purpose is to determine optimum dispatch schedules for on-load tap changer (OLTC) settings at substations, substation-switched capacitors, and feeder-switched capacitors based on the day-ahead load forecast. The objectives are selected to minimize the voltage deviation on the secondary bus of the main transformer, total electrical energy losses, the number of OLTCs, and capacitor operation and voltage fluctuations in distribution systems for the next day. Since this model is the weighted sum of individual objective functions, an analytic hierarchy …

Multi-Objective Weighted Sum Approach Model Reduction By Routh-Pade Approximation Using Harmony Search, Hasan Nasiri Soloklo, Malihe Maghfoori Farsangi Jan 2013

Multi-Objective Weighted Sum Approach Model Reduction By Routh-Pade Approximation Using Harmony Search, Hasan Nasiri Soloklo, Malihe Maghfoori Farsangi

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

A new weighted-sum multiobjective approach is investigated for order reduction based on Routh--Padé approximation, in which the harmony search algorithm is used to optimize the reduced-order model's parameters. In this method, apart from minimizing the errors between a set of subsequent time moments/Markov parameters of the system and those of the model, the error between the singular values of the reduced-order system and those of the original system is minimized. The Routh criterion is applied for specifying the stability conditions. The stability condition is then considered as a constraint in the optimization problem. To present the ability of the proposed …

Improving Power Systems Operation Through Multiobjective Optimal Location Of Optimal Unified Power Flow Controller, Afshin Lashkar Ara, Ahad Kazemi, Mohammad Behshad

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper presents a multiobjective optimization methodology to find the optimal location for an optimal unified power flow controller (OUPFC) device. Moreover, the installation cost function of the OUPFC device is developed. The objective functions are the total fuel cost, power losses, and system loadability with and without the minimum cost of the OUPFC installation. The \varepsilon-constraint approach is implemented for the multiobjective mathematical programming formulation. The proposed algorithm is implemented in the IEEE 30- and 118-bus test systems. The solution procedure uses nonlinear programming to optimally locate the OUPFC incorporated in an optimal power flow problem considering these objective …
