Improving The Performance Of Industrial Mixers That Are Used In Agricultural Technologies Via Chaotic Systems And Artificial Intelligence Techniques, Onur Kalayci, İhsan Pehli̇van, Selçuk Coşkun

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this study, it is aimed to show how important to apply chaotic systems and Fuzzy Logic artificial intelligence technique to increase the production performance of industrial mixers used in agriculture in terms of important criteria such as product quality, homogeneity, time, and energy saving by using. A PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) controlled mixer whose all functions can be controlled by the HMI (Human Machine Interface) operator panel is designed and manufactured for experimental studies. Water, leonardite and potassium hydroxide (KOH) mixture components are mixed in a newly designed mixer in three different ways by using traditional, chaos, and artificial …

Chaos In Metaheuristic Based Artificial Intelligence Algorithms:A Short Review, Gökhan Atali, İhsan Pehli̇van, Bi̇lal Gürevi̇n, Hali̇l İbrahi̇m Şeker

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Metaheuristic based artificial intelligence algorithms are commonly used in the solution of optimization problems. Another area -besides engineering systems- where chaos theory is widely employed is optimization problems. Being applied easily and not trapping in local optima, chaos-based search algorithms have attracted great attention. For example, it has been reported that when random number sequences generated from different chaotic systems are replaced with parameter values in bioinspired and swarm intelligence algorithms, an increase in the performance of metaheuristic algorithms is observed. Many scientific studies on developing hybrid algorithms in which metaheuristic algorithms and chaos theory are used together are already …

A New Computer-Controlled Platform For Adc-Based True Random Number Generator And Its Applications, Selçuk Coşkun, İhsan Pehli̇van, Aki̇f Akgül, Bi̇lal Gürevi̇n Jan 2019

A New Computer-Controlled Platform For Adc-Based True Random Number Generator And Its Applications, Selçuk Coşkun, İhsan Pehli̇van, Aki̇f Akgül, Bi̇lal Gürevi̇n

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The basis of encryption techniques is random number generators (RNGs). The application areas of cryptology are increasing in number due to continuously developing technology, so the need for RNGs is increasing rapidly, too. RNGs can be divided into two categories as pseudorandom number generator (PRNGs) and true random number generator (TRNGs). TRNGs are systems that use unpredictable and uncontrollable entropy sources and generate random numbers. During the design of TRNGs, while analog signals belonging to the used entropy sources are being converted to digital data, generally comparators, flip-flops, Schmitt triggers, and ADCs are used. In this study, a computer-controlled new …

Speech Steganalysis Based On The Delay Vector Variance Method, Osman Hi̇lmi̇ Koçal, Emrah Yürüklü, Erdoğan Di̇laveroğlu Jan 2016

Speech Steganalysis Based On The Delay Vector Variance Method, Osman Hi̇lmi̇ Koçal, Emrah Yürüklü, Erdoğan Di̇laveroğlu

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This study investigates the use of delay vector variance-based features for steganalysis of recorded speech. Because data hidden within a speech signal distort the properties of the original speech signal, we designed a new audio steganalyzer that utilizes delay vector variance (DVV) features based on surrogate data in order to detect the existence of hidden data. The proposed DVV features are evaluated individually and together with other chaotic-type features. The performance of the proposed steganalyzer method is also discussed with a focus on the effect of different hiding capacities. The results of the study show that using the proposed DVV …

Chaos Control Of Single Time-Scale Brushless Dc Motor With Sliding Mode Control Method, Yilmaz Uyaroğlu, Bariş Cevher Jan 2013

Chaos Control Of Single Time-Scale Brushless Dc Motor With Sliding Mode Control Method, Yilmaz Uyaroğlu, Bariş Cevher

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this paper, the sliding mode control (SMC) scheme of single time-scale brushless DC motor (BLDCM) is investigated. The SMC method consists of 2 sections. To simplify the directive of the stability of the controlled single time-scale BLDCM in the sliding mode, first a special type of PI switching surface is adopted. Second, the SMC controller is obtained to guarantee the occurrence of the PI switching surface. The effectiveness of the theoretical analysis is evaluated by numerical simulations. Thus, the numerical results are used to show the verification and trustworthiness of the proposed method.

Adaptive Detection Of Chaotic Oscillations In Ferroresonance Using Modified Extended Kalman Filter, Cengi̇z Polat Uzunoğlu, Mukden Uğur Jan 2013

Adaptive Detection Of Chaotic Oscillations In Ferroresonance Using Modified Extended Kalman Filter, Cengi̇z Polat Uzunoğlu, Mukden Uğur

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Power quality and power disturbances have become an important factor for power systems. Chaotic ferroresonance is one of the disturbances that may cause overvoltages and overcurrents; hence, it can endanger the system reliability and continuous safe operating. A power system that generates chaotic oscillations is a dynamic system, which can be modeled with a Duffing equation. This paper introduces the application of a modified extended Kalman filter for improving the detection of chaotic behavior of power system signals. A modification algorithm is used to increase the estimation performance of the former casual extended Kalman filter. The proposed method is employed …

Artificial Neural Network Based Chaotic Generator For Cryptology, İlker Dalkiran, Kenan Danişman Jan 2010

Artificial Neural Network Based Chaotic Generator For Cryptology, İlker Dalkiran, Kenan Danişman

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Chaotic systems are sensitive to initial conditions, system parameters and topological transitivity and these properties are also remarkable for cryptanalysts. Noise like behavior of chaotic systems is the main reason of using these systems in cryptology. However some properties of chaotic systems such as synchronization, fewness of parameters etc. cause serious problems for cryptology. In this paper, to overcome disadvantages of chaotic systems, the dynamics of Chua's circuit namely x, y and z were modeled using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). ANNs have some distinctive capabilities like learning from experiences, generalizing from a few data and nonlinear relationship between inputs and …

Programmable Design And Implementation Of A Chaotic System Utilizing Multiple Nonlinear Functions, Recai̇ Kiliç, Fatma Yildirim Dalkiran

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In addition to exhibiting a rich variety of bifurcation and chaos via tuning parameters, a chaotic system introduced by Sprott can be modeled and realized with a fixed main system block and many different changeable nonlinear function blocks such as piecewise-linear function, cubic function and other trigonometric functions. This system is very suitable for implementing a programmable chaos generator according to its changeable nonlinearity. This paper presents a FPAA (Field Programmable Analog Array)-based programmable implementation of this system. Nonlinear function blocks used in this chaotic system are modeled with FPAA programming and a model is rapidly changed for realizing other …
