Synthesis, Structural Characterization, And Antimicrobial Efficiency Of Sulfadiazine Azo-Azomethine Dyes And Their Bi-Homonuclear Uranyl Complexes For Chemotherapeutic Use, Abdalla M. Khedr, Fawaz A. Saad

Two sulfadiazine azo-azomethine dyes containing two active coordination centers and their bi-homonuclear UO_2(II)-complexes were synthesized for potential chemotherapeutic use. The ligands were prepared, starting from the coupling of sulfadiazine dizonium salt with acetylacetone, followed by condensation with ethylenediamine and 1,6-hexanediamine (HL^I and HL^{II}) using a modified literature procedure. The structures of the ligands and their UO_2(II)-complexes were elucidated by conventional and thermal gravimetric analyses, molar conductivity, magnetic susceptibility, and IR, UV-Vis, ^1H NMR, and mass spectra. Turkish Journal of Chemistry

A new, less expensive, solvent-free procedure was developed for the synthesis of some new derivatives of various fused heterocyclic ring systems, namely azolopyridazine, azolotriazine, azinotriazine, thienopyridine, and pyrazolopyridine. The structures of the products prepared were established by their spectral data and elemental analyses. Eight compounds were evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activity. Some of the tested compounds exhibited moderate to significant antibacterial and antifungal activities.

A new class of 2-[4-(1H-benzimidazol-1-yl)phenyl]-1H-benzimidazoles (13--22) were synthesized via cyclocondensation reaction of the substituted 1,2-phenylenediamines (1, 4--12) and 1-(4-formylpheny)-1H-benzimidazole (3). The synthesized compounds were evaluated for antibacterial and antifungal activities against S. aureus, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and Candida albicans by the tube dilution method. Compounds 13, 15, 18, 20, and 21 have moderate antifungal activity against C. albicans.

This paper examines the synthesis of \gamma-butyrolactone compounds 2, 3, 4, 5, and 9, and their potential antimicrobial nature and ability. The structures of all the compounds mentioned above were determined and confirmed with elemental analyses, and IR, ^1H-NMR, and ^{13}C-NMR spectroscopy. The in vitro antimicrobial activity of compounds 2, 3, 4, 5, and 9 was examined and evaluated against the following pathogens: Enterobacter aerogenes, Enterobacter cloacae, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus agalactiae, Aspergillus niger, and Candida albicans. A new series of thiazolyl thiazolidine-2,4-dione (Va-f) were synthesized and their structures were elucidated by IR, ^1H-NMR, mass spectra and elementary analysis. The synthesized compounds were tested for their antimicrobial activities against Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli. Compounds Va-b, Vd-f showed high activity against Escherichia coli comparable to ampicillin.

A new series of flavonyl pro-drug esters of ampicillin (Va-b) was prepared by condensing the appropriate bromomethyl flavone with ampicillin trihydrate potassium salt. Flavone derivatives and ampicillin both have good antibacterial activity. The synthesized compounds were tested for their antifungal and antibacterial activities in vitro. Both of the compounds were active against Candida krusei and Staphylococcus aureus.

In this study, 6 different new vic-dioxime ligands and their mononuclear complexes with Co(III) have been synthesized. The structures of these compounds were identified by using elemental analyses, IR, ^{1}H and ^{13}C NMR, electronic spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements and conductivity. In addition, the thermal characterizations and antimicrobial activities of the ligands and their complexes have been investigated.
