Thermodynamic And Kinetic Study Of Adsorptive Removal Of Lead By The Nanocompositeloaded Nanofibers, Urwa Mahmood, Sharjeel Abid, Bilal Qadir, Ahsan Nazir, Tanveer Hussain
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Herein, the fabrication of electrospun nanocomposites, using polyacrylonitrile nanofibers (PNF) modified with nanobentonite and fly ash, is explained. Further, the use of electrospun adsorbent for the remediation of Pb (II) ions from water has been explored. Pristine PNF and nanocomposites were characterized using SEM, EDX, and FTIR to analyze surface topology, elemental composition, and functional groups, respectively. The adsorptive behavior of developed adsorbents was investigated using the effects of dosage, initial concentration, time, and temperature. Pseudo-second order kinetics fit well with experimental data and the adsorption followed intra-particle diffusion. The thermodynamics study confirmed spontaneous endothermic adsorption of the heavy metal. …

Dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) has a specific unpleasant odour and is profoundly toxic with an odour threshold of around 7-12 ppb. In this study, the removal of DMDS was investigated by adsorption on activated carbon cloth (ACC) in the gas phase. Kinetics and isotherm studies were performed. Adsorption kinetics followed by GC-MS and the data were processed using different models. When correlation coefficients (R2) of linear regression analysis are analyzed, it is seen that the concordance of experimental data to the pseudo-second-order equation is quite good. Isotherm data have been examined using Freundlich, Temkin and Langmuir models. The regression coefficient (R2) …

Intake Of Divalent Copper And Nickel Onto Natural Zeolite From Aqueous Solutions: A Study In Mono- And Dicomponent Systems, Burak Teki̇n, Ünsal Açikel
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
In this study, the noncompetitive and competitive adsorption process of copper (II) and nickel (II) ions on the natural zeolite were examined in simulated wastewater in a batch system with respect to concentration, pH and temperature. Optimum pH values were found as 5,0 for adsorption of copper and nickel ions on the zeolite. The effect of initial concentration and ambient temperature on the yield of adsorption was examined at this pH value. The equilibrium adsorption data of Cu (II) and Ni (II) onto the zeolite were analyzed by the Langmuir's and Freundlich's isotherms, and the experimental metal uptake data fitted …

Coordination-driven self-assembly of nickel (II) ions with equimolar amounts of 1, 10 phenanthroline, and benzoic acid was used to create homonuclear nickel (II) MOF-type supramolecule. Single crystal X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, photoluminescence measurement, FT-IR, UV-visible spectroscopy, and nitrogen physisorption measurement were used to characterize the compound. The single crystal X-ray diffraction study reveals that the synthesized compound is two-dimensional with pores in the structure. The homonuclear nickel (II) MOF-type supramolecule crystallized in a triclinic crystal system, with space group P-1 (No.2) and unit cell parameters a = 9.2053(4) Ǻ, b = 13.2964(5) Ǻ, c = 15.8998(6) …

Adsorptive Removal Of Crystal Violet From Aqueous Solution By Ultrasonic-Assisted Synthesized Zirconium-2,6-Naphthalenedicarboxylate Metal-Organic Framework, Penmethsa Kiran Kumar, Sunkara Satya Veni
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Zirconium-2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate metal-organic framework (Zr-NDC MOF) was prepared using ultrasound-assisted synthesis and tested for the adsorptive removal of crystal violet (CV) dye from aqueous solution. The pristine Zr-NDC was characterized using powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared, elemental analysis, and dynamic light scattering techniques. The maximum percentage removal of CV dye was found to be 99.45% with an initial dye concentration of 10 mg L-1. The kinetics and adsorption isotherm models were used to investigate the removal of CV dye from aqueous solution using Zr-NDC. Langmuir adsorption isotherm model (R2 …

A nanocomposite containing Fe3O4, chitosan (Ch), and hexacyanoferrate (HCF) was synthesized in the form of powder. The physicochemical properties of this nanocomposite are determined using different techniques including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The existence of Cs (Cs) ions onto the surface of the nanocomposite was verified by dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). FTIR spectra confirmed that the nanocomposite was well coordinated. The batch technique was applied to evaluate the influences of initial pH value, temperature, contact time, shaking rate, initial Cs concentration, and competing cations on the efficiency of Cs …

High-Efficiency Removal Of Cationic Dye And Heavy Metal Ions From Aqueous Solution Using Amino-Functionalized Graphene Oxide, Adsorption Isotherms, Kinetics Studies, And Mechanism, Meti̇n Çelebi̇, Eda Gökirmak Söğüt
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
GO-NH2 (amino functionalized graphene oxide) was synthesized by grafting (3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane onto the surface GO (graphene oxide). The GO-NH2 with a higher surface area and many active sites was characterized and its effectiveness in removing Rhod B dye and Ni(II) ions from wastewater by adsorption was observed. The effects of pH, time, and strange ions on the adsorption efficiency were investigated. The equilibrium isotherm data confirmed that it fits the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. GO and GO-NH2 exhibited high adsorption capacity (QM); 2500 (mg L-1) and 3333 (mg L-1) for …

In this study, the performance of chitosan based semi-IPN nanocomposite hydrogels for the adsorptive removal of basic violet 14 (BV14) from aqueous solution has been explored. Batch adsorption studies were conducted to determine the effect of various parameters on BV14 adsorption, and optimum values were reported as pH of 8, the adsorbent dosage of 0.025 g, initial BV14 concentration of 5 mg L-1 and contact time of 90 min at a temperature of 25 °C. The semi-IPN hydrogel containing 0.5% by weight GO showed the improved adsorption capacity for BV14 compared to the neat hydrogel adsorbent, and the maximum …
