Neutron And Electron Electric Dipole Moment In N=1 Supergravity Unification, Tarek Ibrahim, Pran Nath Apr 2012

Neutron And Electron Electric Dipole Moment In N=1 Supergravity Unification, Tarek Ibrahim, Pran Nath

Pran Nath

An analysis of the neutron EDM and of the electron EDM in minimal N=1 supergravity unification with two CP-violating phases is given. For the neutron the analysis includes the complete one loop gluino, chargino, and neutralino exchange diagrams for the electric dipole and the chromoelectric dipole operators, and also the contribution of the purely gluonic dimension-six operator. It is shown that there exist significant regions in the six-dimensional parameter space of the model where cancellations between the gluino and the chargino exchanges reduce the electric and the chromoelectric contributions, and further cancellations among the electric, the chromoelectric, and the purely …

Neutralino Exchange Corrections To The Higgs Boson Mixings With Explicit Cp Violation, Tarek Ibrahim, Pran Nath Apr 2012

Neutralino Exchange Corrections To The Higgs Boson Mixings With Explicit Cp Violation, Tarek Ibrahim, Pran Nath

Pran Nath

A calculus for the derivatives of the eigenvalues of the neutralino mass matrix with respect to the CP violating background fields is developed and used to compute the mixings among the CP even and the CP odd Higgs sectors arising from the inclusion of the neutralino sector consisting of the neutralino, the Z boson, and the neutral Higgs bosons (χi⁰-Z-h⁰-H⁰) exchange in the loop contribution to the effective potential including the effects of large CP violating phases. Along with the top squark, bottom squark, tau slepton and chargino–W–charged-Higgs-boson (χ⁺-W-H⁺) contributions computed previously the present analysis completes the one loop corrections …

Event Rates In Dark Matter Detectors For Neutralinos Including Constraints From B →Sγ Decay, Pran Nath, R. Arnowitt Apr 2012

Event Rates In Dark Matter Detectors For Neutralinos Including Constraints From B →Sγ Decay, Pran Nath, R. Arnowitt

Pran Nath

Event rates for neutralino-nucleus scattering are studied including the constraint arising from the recent CLEO results on b→sγ using the cold hot dark matter (CHDM) model. It is found that the CLEO results strongly affect the supersymmetric spectrum and the event rates. The analysis given here uses the accurate method for the computation of the relic density and leads to a dip in the event rate when the neutralino mass is ∼MZ/2 due to the Z pole and ∼mh/2 due to the Higgs pole. The effect of the new Δq determinations on event rates is also discussed.

Probing Minimal Supergravity Via The Extreme Universe Space Observatory, Luis Anchordoqui, Haim Goldberg, Pran Nath Apr 2012

Probing Minimal Supergravity Via The Extreme Universe Space Observatory, Luis Anchordoqui, Haim Goldberg, Pran Nath

Pran Nath

An analysis is carried out within mSUGRA of the estimated number of events originating from upward moving ultrahigh energy neutralinos passing through Earth’s crust that could be detected by the Extreme Universe Space Observatory (EUSO). The analysis exploits a recently proposed technique that differentiates ultrahigh energy neutralinos from ultrahigh energy neutrinos using their different absorption lengths in the Earth’s crust. It is shown that for the part of the parameter space, where the neutralino is mostly a B-ino and with squark mass ∼1TeV, EUSO could see ultrahigh energy neutralino events within mSUGRA models with essentially no background. In the energy …

Predictions Of Neutralino Dark Matter Event Rates In Minimal Supergravity Unification, R. Arnowitt, Pran Nath Apr 2012

Predictions Of Neutralino Dark Matter Event Rates In Minimal Supergravity Unification, R. Arnowitt, Pran Nath

Pran Nath

A detailed analysis of dark matter event rates in minimal supergravity models (MSGM's) is given. It is shown analytically that the lightest neutralino Z̃₁ is the LSP over almost all of the parameter space, and hence the natural candidate for cold dark matter (CDM). The radiative breaking of SU(2)×U(1) constraints is shown to be crucial in determining the expected event rates. Approximate analytic formulas are obtained to determine the gaugino-Higgsino content of the Z̃₁ particle. From this one can deduce the behavior of the event rates as one varies the SUSY soft breaking parameters and tanβ. The constraint on the …

Explaining Pamela And Wmap Data Through Coannihilations In Extended Sugra With Collider Implications, Daniel Feldman, Zuowei Liu, Pran Nath, Brent D. Nelson Apr 2012

Explaining Pamela And Wmap Data Through Coannihilations In Extended Sugra With Collider Implications, Daniel Feldman, Zuowei Liu, Pran Nath, Brent D. Nelson

Pran Nath

The PAMELA positron excess is analyzed within the framework of nonuniversal supergravity (SUGRA) models with an extended U(1)n gauge symmetry in the hidden sector leading to neutralino dark matter with either a mixed Higgsino-wino lightest R-parity odd supersymmetric particle (LSP) or an essentially pure wino-dominated LSP. The Higgsino-wino LSP can produce the observed PAMELA positron excess and satisfy relic density constraints in the extended class of models due to a near degeneracy of the mass spectrum of the extended neutralino sector with the LSP mass. The simultaneous satisfaction of the WMAP relic density data and the PAMELA data is accomplished …

A Supersymmetric Stueckelberg U(1) Extension Of The Mssm, Boris Körs, Pran Nath Jan 2011

A Supersymmetric Stueckelberg U(1) Extension Of The Mssm, Boris Körs, Pran Nath

Pran Nath

A Stueckelberg extension of the MSSM with only one abelian vector and one chiral superfield as an alternative to an abelian extension with Higgs scalars is presented. The bosonic sector contains a new gauge boson Z′ which is a sharp resonance, and a new CP-even scalar, which combines with the MSSM Higgs bosons to produce three neutral CP-even massive states. The neutral fermionic sector has two additional fermions which mix with the four MSSM neutralinos to produce an extended 6×6 neutralino mass matrix. For the case when the LSP is composed mostly of the Stueckelberg fermions, the LSP of the …

Connecting The Direct Detection Of Dark Matter With Observation Of Sparticles At The Lhc, Daniel Feldman, Zuowei Liu, Pran Nath Jan 2011

Connecting The Direct Detection Of Dark Matter With Observation Of Sparticles At The Lhc, Daniel Feldman, Zuowei Liu, Pran Nath

Pran Nath

An analysis is given connecting event rates for the direct detection of neutralino dark matter with the possible signatures of supersymmetry at the LHC. It is shown that if an effect is seen in the direct detection experiments at a level of O(10⁻⁴⁴) cm² for the neutralino-proton cross section, then within the mSUGRA model the next heavier particle above the neutralino is either a stau, a chargino, or a CP odd/CP even (A/H) Higgs boson. Further, the collider analysis shows that models with a neutralino-proton cross section at the level of (1 − 5) × 10⁻⁴⁴ cm² could be probed …
