The Smit-Caple DSAC Pauson-Khand cyclization of a series of N-protected allyl propargyl amines in the absence of oxygen gave rise to formation of the saturated azabicyclo[3.3.0]octanones in excellent yields. Standard cyclization in air gave mixtures of saturated and unsaturated ketones.

An intramolecular reductive Pauson-Khand reaction of the hexacarbonyldicobalt complex of N-(tert-butyloxycarbonyl)allylpropargylamine under dry-state adsorption conditions directly afforded the saturated N-BOC-3-azabicyclo[3.3.0]octan-7-one when the reaction was performed under an inert atmosphere. This bicyclic ketone was converted in several steps to the novel octahydro-1-azeto[2′,3′:3,4]cyclopenta[1,2-C]pyrrole ring system as confirmed by single crystal X-ray analysis.

GEs are partly regulated by CNAs, and much effort has been devoted to understanding their relations. The expression of a gene can be regulated by multiple CNAs, and one CNA can regulate the expression of multiple genes. In addition, multiple GEs (CNAs) can be correlated with each other. In genetic and genomic studies, gene-environment (G*E) interactions have important implications. Some of the existing G$\times$E interaction methods are limited by analyzing a small number of G factors at a time, by assuming linear effects of E factors, by assuming no data contamination, and by adopting ineffective selection techniques. In this study, we propose a new approach for identifying important G*E interactions. It jointly models the effects of all E and G factors and their interactions. High-power laser radiation beams interacting with a rarefied, fully ionized plasmas are essentially unstable. This fact is mainly due to the excitation of various modes of plasma oscillations, most important of which are electron Langmuir waves and ion acoustic waves. The stimulated scattering processes destroy and deplete the pulse in the as it propagates. On the other hand, at the moderate level of instability, spectral properties of the scattered light may serve as optical diagnostics of the pulse propagation dynamics. Herein we describe theory and algorithms for detecting covariance structures in large, noisy data sets. Our work uses ideas from matrix completion and robust principal component analysis to detect the presence of low-rank covariance matrices, even when the data is noisy, distorted by large corruptions, and only partially observed. In fact, the ability to handle partial observations combined with ideas from randomized algorithms for matrix decomposition enables us to produce asymptotically fast algorithms. Herein we will provide numerical demonstrations of the methods and their convergence properties.
