Koçkale and its vicinity (Elazığ) is composed of four different units. These are; Upper Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous Guleman Group, Campanian-Maastrichtian Yüksekova Complex, Maastrichtian-Lower Eocene Hazar Group and Middle Eocene Maden Complex. The Mn mineralizations of Koçkale are situated in volcanosedmentary rocks of Maden Complex and occur in two types: (1) The mineralizations conformable with volcanosedimentary rocks, are the syngenetic and volcanosedimentary type. This type of mineralizations occur within mudstone and as a constituent of this unit, The mineralized bodies are tense and stratiform shaped. Any alteration related to mineralization is absent. Ore mineral assemblage is pyrolusite, psilomelane, rodokrosite, brauntte, manganite, limonite, …

The Metamorphism And The Relationship Between Infra And Suprastructures Of The Bi̇tli̇s Massif – Turkey, Metin Şengün Aug 1993

The Metamorphism And The Relationship Between Infra And Suprastructures Of The Bi̇tli̇s Massif – Turkey, Metin Şengün

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The infrastructure of the massive consists essentially of amphibolites, gneisses and micaschists intruded by a biotite granite and the successive hololeucocratic phase. The mantling rocks of the suprastructure comprise metapelitic rocks unconformably underlying metacarbonates dated as Middle Devonian- Mesozoic. The infra-suprastructure boundary is interpreted as a surface of transgressive overlap. The rocks of infra and suprastructure are involved in isoclinal folds with ductile deformation along most of the boundary conclusively suggesting in situ position of the suprastructure during the Alpine deformation. The shear planes are discontinous, en echelon and run independently of the infra-suprastructure boundary. A uniform sequence of Palaeozoic …

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

A belt formed by a number of granitoid intrusions is situated at the western part of the Central Anatolian Crystalline Massif. One of the granitoid intrusion at the southwest of the belt crops out between Aksaray and Ortaköy and is called Ekecikdağ. Ekecikdağ granitoid, which is composed of monzogranites and granodiorites. intruded both the metamorphic and ophiolitic host rocks. Ekecikdağ granitoid is differentiated into following subunits with respect to their petrographical and chemical composition: Borucu granodiorite-monzogranite, Sinandi microgranite, Hisarkaya porphyribc granite, Kalebalta teucogranite and aplite granite. All these subunits are genetically related to each other. Borucu granodiorite-monzogranite represents the main …

An Example To Sepiolite Formation In Volcanic Belts By Hydrothermal Alteration: Kibriscik (Bolu) Sepiolite Occurrence, Taner Irkeç, Taner Ünlü

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

Geological, mineralogical and chemical properties of a sepiolite occurrence, located in the south of Kıbrıscık township of Bolu Province, north central Turkey, have been investigated in detail, and new mineralogical data have been obtained. Differing from the sedimentary sepiolite deposits, mostly associated with the carbonate/evaporite sequences, Kıbrıscık sepiolite occurs in the Köroğlu (Gallatian) Volcanic Belt and has formed by the hydrothermal alteration of the vitric tuff unit of Middle Miocene aged Deveören Volcanites. The mineral, which shows a similar XRD pattern to sepiolite, gives DTA and IR patterns with close resemblance to those of palygorskite, in addition to its chemical …

Hydrocarbon Potential Of The Kahramanmaraş And Elbi̇stan Areas, Yüksel Önem Jun 1991

Hydrocarbon Potential Of The Kahramanmaraş And Elbi̇stan Areas, Yüksel Önem

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The Taurus mountains, which developed in the conjoining zone of the Anatolian and Arabian Plates, underwent a disruption between Bolkar mountain and Engizek mountain. This can be explained by the fact that the area was traversed and transformed by two major strike-sup faults situated at Mersin-east Bolkar mountain-Kayseri in the west and Antakya (Hatay)-Elazığ-Bingöl in the east, In fact, the east-west oriented 200 km. wide area, covering the Gulf of İskenderun and the northern pan of Adana, was compressed and deflected as far as the north of Sarız and the Arabian Plate was dislocated prior to the faulting and moved …

Presence Of Nummulites Fabianii (Prever) Group (Nummuli̇tes Ex Gr. Fabi̇ani̇i̇) And Associated Foraminifers In The Elaziğ Region, Niyazi Avşar

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The presence of Nummulites ex gr. fabianii has been indicated in the Eocene sediments, and the stratigraphy of the region is briefly given. The rock units of Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic ages crop out in the region. The Paleozoic sequence is composed of metamorphic rocks. This unit is tectonically underlain by the Mesozoic sequence formed of magmatic rocks. The Paleozoic and Mesozoic rocks arc unconformably overlain by the sandstone and algal limestones of the Upper Lutetian age. Algal limestone contains genera of the Foraminifcra such as Nummulites perforatus (Montfort). Assilina spira (de Roissy), Alveolina fusiformis Sowerby, Alveolina elongata d'Orbigny, Fabiania …

Geology Of The Baski̇l (Elaziğ) Area And The Petrology Of Baski̇l Magmatics, H.Jerf Asutay

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The study area which covers the region around Baskil on Eastern Taurus Range comprises of Keban metamorphics and Baskil magmatics overlain by a Tertiary sedimentary cover. The Keban metamorphics are represented by regional and contact metamorphic rocks in the study area. Calc schist and marble associations are widespread on regional scale. Between Baskil granite and Keban metamorphics exomorphism and endomorphism zones have been developed. Metasomatic effects are observed in the contact metamorphic rocks which reflect the pyroxene-hornfels facies. The sedimentary sequence begins with Middle Paleocene (Thanetian) aged rocks in the study area. The same sequence, however, has been deposited starting …

Observations Sur Un Gisement De Latérite Près De Gökçeovacik Köy (Sw De La Turquie), S. Ayrton, J. P. Vernet, R. Woodtli

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The Orogenic Evolution Of Turkey, İhsan Keti̇n

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

Although Turkey belongs, in its general make-up, to the Alpine belt, this area also exhibits, in certain regions, the effects of the Hercynian, Caledonian and even of the pre-Cambrian tectonic movements. In this brief paper, the writer will attempt to give the well-known orogenic phases of the Alpine and pre-Alpine movements and to show them in vertical diagrams on a small scale map of Turkey.
