Effects Of Silar Cycle On The Electrical Characteristics Of Cd/Cdse/N-Si/Au-Sb Structure, Betül Güzeldi̇r, Mustafa Sağlam, Aytünç Ateş

Turkish Journal of Physics

Cd/CdSe/n-Si/Au-Sb structures have been fabricated by Successive Ionic Layer Adsorption and Reaction (SILAR) method under various SILAR cycles. The characteristics parameters of these structures such as barrier height, ideality factor, series resistance are calculated from the current-voltage (I-V) measurements and the barrier height, carrier concentration are calculated from reverse bias capacitance-voltage (C-V) measurements at 300 kHz frequency and room temperature. Furthermore, the density distribution and rectifying ratio of these structure have been calculated from the I-V measurements as a function of SILAR cycle. It has been seen that the changes of characteristic parameters such as barrier height, ideality factor and …

Effect Of Nitrogen Incorporation On The Electronic And Optical Properties Of Algaasn/Gaas Quantum Well Lasers, Boualem Merabet, Abdelhadi Lachebi, Hamza Abid Jan 2011

Effect Of Nitrogen Incorporation On The Electronic And Optical Properties Of Algaasn/Gaas Quantum Well Lasers, Boualem Merabet, Abdelhadi Lachebi, Hamza Abid

Turkish Journal of Physics

In order to investigate the profound effect of small amounts of nitrogen incorporated into the III-V systems on the fundamental band gap, which decreases dramatically with increasing of N^+ implantation, we present a pseudopotential formalism within the Virtual Crystal Approximation confronted to the Band Anti-crossing model, which parameterizes successfully such behaviour, so as to study the electronic and optical properties of dilute Al_xGa_{1-x}As_{1-y}N_y materials, prepared by implantation of N^+ into epitaxial AlGaAs. Analytical formulas of quantized energy levels in AlGaAsN quantum well (QW) lasers and optical transition wavelengths between subbands are presented and compared to simulations based on our programs.

Comparing Optical Sensing Using Slab Waveguides And Total Internal Reflection Ellipsometry, Sofyan A. Taya, Taher M. El-Agez Jan 2011

Comparing Optical Sensing Using Slab Waveguides And Total Internal Reflection Ellipsometry, Sofyan A. Taya, Taher M. El-Agez

Turkish Journal of Physics

The sensitivity of the effective refractive index of slab waveguide sensors to variations in the refractive index of the cladding is compared to that of the ellipsometric parameters. The changes of the effective refractive index of a waveguide and the ellipsometric parameter \Delta , due to the index change of the cladding, were derived and plotted as a function of the guiding layer thickness and with the index of the cladding. It is found that these changes almost have the same overall feature but the ellipsometric parameters showed considerable higher sensitivity than the effective index of the conventional waveguide optical …

Turkish Journal of Physics

In this paper, the results of theoretical calculation of five Rydberg series energy levels 5d_{3/2} \to np_{1/2} (n=6--20), 5d_{3/2} \to nf_{5/2} (n=5--20), 5d_{5/2} \to np_{3/2} (n=6--20), 5d_{5/2} \to nf_{7/2} (n=5-20) and 5d_{5/2} \to nf_{5/2} (n=5-20) for Pb III ions are presented using the weakest bound electron potential model (WBEPM) theory, considering foreign level perturbation corrections. The theoretically calculated results agree very well with present known experimental data, and some energy levels without experimental values are predicted.

Analytical Expression For Mode-Coherence Coefficient Of A Uniformly-Distributed Wave Propagating In Different Homogeneous Media, Noor Ezzulddin Naji

Turkish Journal of Physics

Presented is a derivation of an analytical expression for the mode-coherence coefficients of uniform-distributed wave propagating within different homogeneous media-as in the case of hyperbolic Gaussian beams-and a simple method involving the superposition of two such beams is proposed. The results obtained from this work are very applicable to study and analysis of Hermite-Gaussian beam propagation, especially in the problems of radiation-matter interaction, and laser beam propagation such as employed in free-space and fiber optical communications.

Turkish Journal of Physics

This paper aims at presenting the behaviour of the space charge region for an n^+-p-p^+ bifacial solar cell under monochromatic illumination. It also deals with mathematical relations in the describing and the use of new approach that involves both junction and back surface recombination velocities with a 3D modelling study. Based on the normalized carriers' density, versus base depth, the space-charge layer thickness (Z_{0,u}) is studied for various parameters such as grain size g, grain boundaries recombination velocity S_{gb}, wavelength \lambda and for different operating conditions. Therefore, the relationship between Z_{0,u} and the diffusion capacitance C_u show that junction in …

Stress-Strain Characteristics, Dynamic Recrystallization, Grain Growth, And Melting Point Of The Binary And Ternary Solder Alloys, Shakib Moqbel Ali Mohammed Alsowidy, Mohammed Ali Shukri

Turkish Journal of Physics

An advanced solder alloy, Pb-10wt%Sn-3wt%Zn, has been developed to improve the mechanical properties of the Pb-10wt%Sn based solders. Deformation behavior of Pb-10wt%Sn and Pb-10wt%Sn-3wt%Zn alloys was investigated in tension at strain rates from 0.005% to 0.25% s^{-1} in the temperature range 383--433 K. The stress-strain characteristics curves showed two deformation modes: (i) continuous work softening and fracture following a sharp stress in Pb-10wt%Sn, (ii) work hardening with steady-state flow and fracture just after yielding in Pb-10wt%Sn-3wt%Zn. In the work softening type, relatively coarse grains ranging from 30 to 60 \mu m are produced by dynamic recrystallization (DRX). In the work …

Turkish Journal of Physics

Based on the Lucas Riccati method and a linear variable separation method, new variable separation solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional generalized Nizhnik-Novikov-Veselov system are derived. Then, we give a positive answer for the following question: Are there any localized excitations derived by the use of another functions? For this purpose, some attention will be paid to dromion, peakon, multi dromion-solitoff excitations, regular fractal dromions, stochastic fractal dromion structure and combined structures including bell-like compactons, peakon-like compactons and compacton-like semi-foldons based on the golden main. With the help of the modified Weierstrass function, we discuss the stochastic fractal dromion structure both analytically …

Hall Effect On Mhd Forced Convection From An Infinite Porous Plate With Dissipative Heat In A Rotating System, Nazibuddin Ahmed, Jiwan Krishna Goswami

Turkish Journal of Physics

An attempt has been made to study the Hall effect on MHD forced convection from an infinite horizontal porous plate with dissipative heat in a rotating system with uniform free stream when the temperature at the plate varies periodically with time. The entire system rotates with a constant angular velocity about the normal to the plate. A uniform magnetic field is assumed to be applied along the normal to the plate directed into the fluid region. The governing equations are solved analytically. The expressions for the velocity and temperature field are obtained in non-dimensional form. The skin friction due to …

Turkish Journal of Physics

In this study, heavy ion reactions of ^6Li + (^{58}Ni, ^{28}Si, ^{12}C) and ^7Li + ^{12}C are studied using different bound state potentials, within the framework of the Distorted Wave Bourn Approximation (DWBA) calculations. Woods-Saxon potential is expressed as the optical potential in the initial and final channels together with a Coulomb potential. The calculations of the angular distributions are found to be in a good agreement with the experimental data. The extracted spectroscopic factors are reasonable.

Strong Optical Injection Locked Semiconductor Laser For High Bit Rate Chaotic Optical Communications, Muzahim Ibrahim Azawe, Ragaad Habib Saied

Turkish Journal of Physics

We present in this article how strong optical injection can produce chaotic dynamics in the output of the semiconductor laser that is preferable for perfect encrypted optical communication networks. Significant increase in the relaxation resonance frequency was found implying higher degree of enhancement in modulation bandwidth. Numerical investigations under the condition of strong optical injection locking of the slave laser shows that instabilities in the photon number was observed and had settled down after a time of in the order of carrier lifetime. The model presented can be used to extract the characteristic parameters of the injection locking for detuning …

2n-Dimensional At Fujii Model Instanton-Like Solutions And Coupling Constant's Role Between Instantons With Higher Derivatives, Mehmet Keçeci̇

Turkish Journal of Physics

An instanton-like solution is considered for a class of two-dimensional conformal model with Liouville term. The model expressed here is a new higher-dimensional model with scalar-spinor interaction on even-dimensional spaces, and is a generalization of the even-dimensional Fujii model. A recurrence relation for the Fujii model and coupling constant's indices between relations with interaction constant is extracted. The behavior of Gürsey, Akdeniz-Smailagi' c and Fujii coupling constants in 4-dimensional conformal models are examined.

Delta Excitation Calculation Studies In The Ground State Of The Compressed Finite Heavy Doubly-Magic Nucleus ^{100}Sn, Mohammed Hassen Eid Abu-Sei'leek Jan 2011

Delta Excitation Calculation Studies In The Ground State Of The Compressed Finite Heavy Doubly-Magic Nucleus ^{100}Sn, Mohammed Hassen Eid Abu-Sei'leek

Turkish Journal of Physics

The energies and matter densities of finite nuclei under radial compression are investigated by using a constrained Hartree-Fock method with the \Delta degree of freedom included. The results are presented for the doubly-magic nucleus ^{100}Sn in an effective baryon-baryon interaction. It is found that as the nucleus is compressed to about three time of the ordinary nuclear density, the \Delta component is sharply increased to about 17% of all baryons in the system. This result is consistent with the values extracted from relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The single particle energy levels calculated and their behaviors under compression examined too. A good …

Molecular Interaction Studies In Binary Mixtures Containing Aniline, Toluene And N-Butanol, Palaniappan Lakshmanan, Mahendran Govindasamy

Turkish Journal of Physics

Ultrasonic velocity and density values have been measured at 303 K in binary mixtures containing aniline, toluene and n-butanol; and the thermodynamical approach is applied to evaluate the mixtures' molar volume, adiabatic compressibility, intermolecular free length and excess values. The observed results are interpreted in terms of molecular interaction between the components of the mixtures. Observed excess values and their fittings of R-K type equations lend further support to the observation made in the binary system.

Optical Characterization Of Fe^{3+} Doped Cds Nanoparticles Synthesized By Wet-Chemical Route, Seyed Mohammad Taheri Otaqsara, Mohammad Hassan Yousefi, Ali Azam Khosravi

Turkish Journal of Physics

Fe^{3+} doped CdS nanoparticles using Mercaptoethanol as a capping agent were prepared by colloidal wet-chemical method. UV-VIS spectra show that Fe-doping can effectively tune energy band structure, i.e. a large blue shift (\sim 30 nm) with increasing Fe concentration. PL measurement of doped CdS nanoparticles shows an additional emission band at \sim 532 nm, which can be due to radiative transition of dopant level to ground state. X-ray diffraction patterns studies revealed cubic crystal phase. TEM micrographs show a spherical shape and nearly well distribution with an average particle size of \sim 4 nm.

Resonance Phenomena And Time Asymmetric Quantum Mechanics, Arno Rudolf Bohm, Fati̇h Erman, Haydar Uncu Jan 2011

Resonance Phenomena And Time Asymmetric Quantum Mechanics, Arno Rudolf Bohm, Fati̇h Erman, Haydar Uncu

Turkish Journal of Physics

This article is a review of time asymmetric quantum theory and its consequences applied to the resonance and decay phenomena. We first give some phenomenological results about resonances and decaying states to support the popular idea that resonances characterized by a width \Gamma and decaying states characterized by a lifetime \tau are different appearances of the same physical entity. Based on Weisskopf-Wigner (WW) methods, one obtains approximately \frac{\hbar}{\tau}\approx \Gamma. However, using standard axioms of quantum physics it is not possible to establish a rigorous theory to which the various WW methods can be considered as approximations. In standard quantum theory, …

A high luminosity energy recovery linac-on-ring type electron-positron collider operating as super charm factory is proposed. It is shown that a luminosity above L = 10^{35}cm^{-2}s^{-1} can be achieved for center of mass energy \sqrt{s}=3.77 GeV. The physics goals of this machine in investigation for charmed particles properties are briefly discussed.

Application Of Active-Osl Approximation To Some Experimental Optical Stimulated Luminescence Decay, Ayşe Güneş Tanir, Mustafa Hi̇cabi̇ Bölükdemi̇r Jan 2011

Application Of Active-Osl Approximation To Some Experimental Optical Stimulated Luminescence Decay, Ayşe Güneş Tanir, Mustafa Hi̇cabi̇ Bölükdemi̇r

Turkish Journal of Physics

In this work, Active-OSL Approximation (AOSLA) suggested by our previous study was applied to experimental optical stimulated luminescence decay from some sediment samples. The explanation of the AOSLA was based on the radioactive decay law of successive disintegration. It allows obtaining the peak forms of luminescence mechanism. This work shows that detrapping constants that have great importance in dating and dosimeters studies can be rapidly and clearly found using the AOSLA. Also, it can be concluded that the OSL is a process similar to the radioactive decay law of successive disintegration.

Anharmonic Properties Of Potassium Halide Crystals, Krishna Murti Raju Jan 2011

Anharmonic Properties Of Potassium Halide Crystals, Krishna Murti Raju

Turkish Journal of Physics

An effort has been made to obtain the anharmonic properties of potassium halides starting from primary physical parameters viz. nearest neighbor distance and hardness parameters assuming long- and short- range potentials at elevated temperatures. The elastic energy density for a deformed crystal can be expanded as power series of strains for obtaining coefficients of quadratic, cubic and quartic terms which are known as the second, third and fourth order elastic constants respectively. When the values of the higher order elastic constants are known for a crystal, many of the anharmonic properties of the crystal can be treated within the limit …

The Low Temperature Resistivity Of Thermally Evaporated Antiferromagnetic Mn_{100-X} Ru_X Thin Films, Francis Kofi Ampong, Francis Boakye Jan 2011

The Low Temperature Resistivity Of Thermally Evaporated Antiferromagnetic Mn_{100-X} Ru_X Thin Films, Francis Kofi Ampong, Francis Boakye

Turkish Journal of Physics

Electrical resistivity measurements on thermally evaporated Mn_{100-x} Ru_x thin films (with x = 0.05 at.% Ru and x = 2.5 at.% Ru) have been carried out over the temperature range from 300 to 1.4 K. A behaviour typical of the bulk \alpha-Mn has been observed on the film with x = 0.05 at.% Ru. The Néel point of this specimen is established at 90 \pm 1 K which is typical of the bulk. This Néel point is raised to 100 \pm 1 K with x = 2.5 at.% Ru in \alpha-Mn. A relatively long range magnetic ordering was observed with …

Effective Size And Expansion Energy Of A Bose-Einstein Condensate In A 3d Non-Cubic Optical Lattice, Shemi S. M. Soliman Jan 2011

Effective Size And Expansion Energy Of A Bose-Einstein Condensate In A 3d Non-Cubic Optical Lattice, Shemi S. M. Soliman

Turkish Journal of Physics

This work is devoted to study the temperature dependence of the effective size and expansion energy E_{x,z} of a Bose-Einstein condensate in a 3D non-cubic optical lattice. Correction due to the finite size, interatomic interaction and the deepness of the lattice potential are given simultaneously. The calculated results show that these two parameters increase with the lattice depth or the relative frequency at temperature less than the transition temperature, (T < T_o); yet it has little effect at temperatures higher than the transition temperature (T > T_o). Both the effective size and expansion energy follow a characteristic temperature dependence, i.e. , E \propto(T/T_0)^4 if T < T_0 and , E \propto (T/T_0) if T > T_0. For a 3D non cubic optical potential the effect of …

Dynamical Behavior Of Traveling Wave Solutions For The K(2,2) Equation, Lina Zhang Jan 2011

Dynamical Behavior Of Traveling Wave Solutions For The K(2,2) Equation, Lina Zhang

Turkish Journal of Physics

In this paper, we discuss the qualitative behavior of degenerate singular points for the K(2,2) equation. By analyzing the different dynamical behaviors of the singular system and its associated regular system, we come to the conclusion that for the singular system the smoothness property of its orbits, which have intersection point(s) with the singular straight line, will not be destroyed. Meanwhile, the corresponding smooth traveling wave solutions for the K(2,2) equation are obtained.
