Environmental And Agronomic Evaluation Of Struvite In Rice Production Systems, Diego Della Lunga
Environmental And Agronomic Evaluation Of Struvite In Rice Production Systems, Diego Della Lunga
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Furrow-irrigation constitutes an alternative water regime that has been increasingly adopted in Arkansas. Among the management of nutrients in furrow-irrigated systems, phosphorus (P) represents a substantial challenge. The environmental sustainability of rice (Oryza sativa) production systems needs to be evaluated across different water regimes and fertilizer-P sources. Therefore, the objectives of the following studies were to: i) evaluate season-long carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) emissions and global warming potential (GWP) under different tillage treatments [i.e., conventional tillage (CT) and no-tillage (NT)] and at different site positions (i.e., up-, mid-, down-slope) along the predominant slope of a production-scale, furrow-irrigated rice …
Estimation Of Gross Primary Productivity Of Rice In Arkansas Using The Vegetation Photosynthesis Model, Riasad Bin Mahbub
Estimation Of Gross Primary Productivity Of Rice In Arkansas Using The Vegetation Photosynthesis Model, Riasad Bin Mahbub
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
An estimate of the gross primary productivity (GPP) of rice fields can be instrumental to understand their harvest yield and to fulfill an array of agricultural monitoring needs. One of the most common satellite-based models to estimate GPP is the vegetation photosynthesis model (VPM). In this study, we use the VPM model for rice cropland in Arkansas and validate our findings against 16 site-years in-situ data (eddy covariance (EC)). At the site scale, results validated against 16 site-years have shown that the VPM with site information (R2 = 0.71, MAE = 2.90 g C m-2day- 1, and RMSE = 4.04 …
Consumer Valuation And Preferences For Sustainably Produced Rice In Ghana, Vera Adabrah-Danquah
Consumer Valuation And Preferences For Sustainably Produced Rice In Ghana, Vera Adabrah-Danquah
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Sustainable agricultural production is a systematic concept that integrates environmental health, economic profitability, and social/economic equity goals. Improving the sustainability of food production is of utmost importance to the human race, given the growing population and the increased depletion of natural resources. Improving sustainability is particularly important for rice, a global food staple with a significant environmental footprint. Rice accounts for 10% of global methane emissions. The Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) standard is the first globally recognized certified sustainable production standard for rice. This study focuses on consumers' preferences for sustainable rice in Ghana, including consumers’ perceptions of different SRP's …
