A Brief Introduction To General Topology, Richard P. Millspaugh

Open Educational Resources

The material in this text is intended to be accessible to undergraduates who have had an introduction to elementary set theory and proof techniques. It includes sufficient material from general topology to prove the two main topological results found in a standard first semester calculus course: the Intermediate Value Theorem and the Extreme Value Theorem. This material can be found in Chapters 2 through 6 and makes up the bulk of the text. Rather than approaching these topics through use of the standard euclidean metric, it defines the standard topology on R in terms of the usual order on R. …

Investigation Of Lignin Solubilization Using Quantum Chemical Calculations In Constrained Media, Leo Sanzone May 2024

Investigation Of Lignin Solubilization Using Quantum Chemical Calculations In Constrained Media, Leo Sanzone

Arts & Sciences Undergraduate Showcase

Lignin is a common, yet complex polymer found in a majority of vascular plants. The polymer can easily be functionalized, and it is a readily available and renewable source of carbon-based material without a petrol source. There are various methods to allow for the dissolution of lignin, one of which involves the use of H2O and CO2 in supercritical conditions. This particular solution bends the normal solvation rules and allows for multiple instances of H-bonding interactions.

By using Density Functional theory, this study aims to identify the molecular interactions of guaiacol (the most basic fragment of lignin) …

Let’S Move! Benefits Of Exercise Compared To Ssris (Escitalopram) For The Management Of Depression: Research From 2020 And Beyond, Brianna Droessler-Aschliman Apr 2024

Let’S Move! Benefits Of Exercise Compared To Ssris (Escitalopram) For The Management Of Depression: Research From 2020 And Beyond, Brianna Droessler-Aschliman

Physician Assistant Scholarly Project Posters

• Purpose: Determine the effectiveness of exercise as either monotherapy or in combination with SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) for the management of major depressive disorder.

• Studies gathered for this review came from the following databases: PubMed, SpringerLink, Academic Search Ultimate, Academic Search Complete, and CINAHL.

• Review of current research that was completed between the years 2020-2023 that consisted of either clinical trials, RCTs, or meta-analysis. • Upon completion of the literature review: exercise is equivocal to SSRIs as a treatment option. While this is a significant finding, the benefits of exercises are more consistent in those that …
