Palladium-Catalysed Suzuki--Miyaura Cross-Coupling With Imidazolylidene Ligands Substituted By Crowded Resorcinarenyl And Calixarenyl Units, Neslihan Sahin, David Semeril, Eric Brenner, Dominique Matt, Cemal Kaya, Loic Toupet

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Two $N$-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) palladium complexes of formula [PdBr$_{2}$(NHC)(pyridine)] in which the carbenic ring is flanked by sterically crowded cavitand substituents were prepared from appropriate imidazolium salts bearing either two resorcinarene or a combination of resorcinarene and calixarene fragments. Both complexes displayed high stability and good activities in the cross-coupling of aryl bromides with phenyl boronic acid. One of the imidazolium salts was characterised by an X-ray diffraction study.

Fluorescent Mono- And Tetra-Dansylated Cavitands: Synthesis And Acid Sensitivity, Ümi̇t İşci̇, Yunus Zorlu, Fabienne Dumoulin

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Two fluorescent tetra- and mono-dansylated resorcinarene cavitands were prepared and fully characterized. The X-ray structure of mono-dansylated resorcinarene cavitand was obtained. Their intrinsic absorption and fluorescence properties were studied. These properties were strongly sensitive to the presence of perchloric acid, as evidenced by the appearance of isobestic points upon protonation of the dansyl dimethylamino functions. The decreasing of the fluorescence emission intensity upon titration with perchloric acid was explained by the excited state interactions between the dansyl groups of the resorcinarene. Fluorescence quantum yields (\Phi _F) of mono- and tetra-dansylated cavitands and the reference compound were determined using dansyl chloride …

Resorcinarene-Mono-Benzimidazolium Salts As Nhc Ligands For Suzuki--Miyaura Cross-Couplings Catalysts, Ümi̇t İşci̇, Muhi̇tti̇n Aygün, Resul Sevi̇ncek, Yunus Zorlu, Fabienne Dumoulin

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Two mono-benzimidazolium salts of resorcinarene have been prepared and used as ligands in Suzuki--Miyaura cross-coupling reactions. They have been fully characterized by $^{1}$H and $^{13}$C NMR, MALDI, and FT-IR spectroscopic methods, and their structures were confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis. These two new resorcinarene-based mono-benzimidazolium salts showed good catalytic activity for coupling reactions in DMF. The highest conversion was achieved for arylation of 4-bromotoluene using the resorcinarenyl mono-dimethylbenzimidazolium salt.
