Meta-Analysis Of Lapatinib Plus Capecitabine Versus Capecitabine In The Treatment Of Her2 Positive Breast Cancer, Lynda Smith
Meta-Analysis Of Lapatinib Plus Capecitabine Versus Capecitabine In The Treatment Of Her2 Positive Breast Cancer, Lynda Smith
Culminating Projects in Applied Statistics
BACKGROUND:
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women despite advances in research and detection methods. Approximately 25 to 30 percent of newly diagnosed cases of breast cancer will overexpress HER2, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2, and are at a greater risk for disease progression and poorer clinical outcomes. The traditional treatment is associated with irreversible cardiac dysfunction. An alternative treatment involving lapatinib plus capecitabine has been reported in some randomized controlled clinical trials comparing treatment outcomes. To quantify the effectiveness of lapatinib plus capecitabine combination therapy versus capecitabine monotherapy in treating metastatic breast cancer, a …

V471 Tauri, a white dwarf–red dwarf eclipsing binary ( EB) in the Hyades, is well known for stimulating development of common envelope theory, whereby novae and other cataclysmic variables form from much wider binaries by catastrophic orbit shrinkage. Our evaluation of a recent imaging search that reported negative results for a much postulated third body shows that the object could have escaped detection or may have actually been seen. The balance of evidence continues to favor a brown dwarf companion about 12 AU from the EB. A recently developed algorithm finds unified solutions from three data types. New radial velocities …
Open Source Electronics For Laboratory Physics, Zengqiang John Liu
Open Source Electronics For Laboratory Physics, Zengqiang John Liu
Physics and Astronomy Faculty Presentations
Open-source electronic devices are transforming laboratory physics education in unprecedented ways. More and more physics instructors have found that open-source electronics, such as Arduino, can provide them with wonderful teaching and learning opportunities. They can develop new laboratory activities and demonstrations, as well as exploratory and advanced projects, often involving their students. The cost is usually low. Participants of this workshop will dive right into interfacing sensors with Arduino compatible platforms. They will acquire first-hand experience constructing circuits and interfacing with sonic rangers, photogates, temperature probes, force gauges, accelerometers, magnetometers, SD cards, displays, user interfaces, and other common sensors, devices, …

Performance Analysis Of A Distributed Key System Broken Up Over Multiple Nodes Across The Amazon Web Service (Aws) Cloud, Erich P. Rice
Performance Analysis Of A Distributed Key System Broken Up Over Multiple Nodes Across The Amazon Web Service (Aws) Cloud, Erich P. Rice
Culminating Projects in Information Assurance
The advent of cloud computing has decreased the cost of enterprise level system design and implementation, while at the same time increasing the need for a sound and secure strategy for security. The use of encryption algorithms continues to be the main line of defense in performing secure data transmissions, the use of a Cloud Computing environment offers both advantages and disadvantages in the encryption process.
Though the new series of encryption algorithms are quite robust, they require a “key” to make their use unique for an individual session, thus if the key is compromised then the underlying encryption algorithm …
Reducing Software Testing Time With Combinatorial Testing And Test Automation, Akalanka Bandara Mailewa
Reducing Software Testing Time With Combinatorial Testing And Test Automation, Akalanka Bandara Mailewa
Culminating Projects in Computer Science and Information Technology
The development of large software systems is a complex and error prone process. Errors may occur at any stage of software development. These errors, sometimes referred to as bugs, can cause great losses in terms of both time and money if not identified and removed as early as possible. Testing a software product is costly, since it takes much time and need to test many combinations of its functions, integrity, performance etc., which can be called as test cases. The company's goal is to reduce the testing time, so that they can save money and deliver the product much faster …
High Dimensional Model Selection And Validation: A Comparison Study, Zhengyi Li
High Dimensional Model Selection And Validation: A Comparison Study, Zhengyi Li
Culminating Projects in Applied Statistics
Model selection is a challenging issue in high dimensional statistical analysis, and many approaches have been proposed in recent years. In this thesis, we compare the performance of three penalized logistic regression approaches (Ridge, Lasso, and Elastic Net) and three information criteria (AIC, BIC, and EBIC) on binary response variable in high dimensional situation through extensive simulation study. The models are built and selected on the training datasets, and their performance are evaluated through AUC on the validation datasets. We also display the comparison results on two real datasets (Arcene Data and University Retention Data). The performance differences among those …
Development And Implementation Of Workshop Management System Application To Explore Combing Multiple Design Patterns, Esraa Aljahdali
Development And Implementation Of Workshop Management System Application To Explore Combing Multiple Design Patterns, Esraa Aljahdali
Culminating Projects in Computer Science and Information Technology
As systems creation are becoming more complex, we face more problems that are related to system construction rather than those problems related to analysis. Design patterns represent a clear way of solving designing problems in the context of a particular computer application. Combining design patterns is one approach that is used to allow flexibility in building applications with multiple problems.
The Workshop Management System application is built to demonstrate the idea of combining multiple design patterns. To support the idea, we show how to build the application by following the structures and methods that are provided by design patterns. Essentially, …

Temperature Dependent C-Axis Hole Mobilities In Rubrene Single Crystals Determined By Time-Of-Flight, Russell L. Lidberg, Tom J. Pundsack, Neale O. Haugen, Lucas R. Johnstone, C. Daniel Frisbie
Physics and Astronomy Faculty Publications
Hole mobilities (μ) in rubrene single crystals (space group Cmca) along the crystallographic c-axis have been investigated as a function of temperature and applied electric field by the time-of-fight method. Measurements demonstrate an inverse power law dependence on temperature, namely,μ=μ0T−n with n = 1.8, from room temperature down to 180 K. At 296 K, the average value of μ was found to be 0.29 cm2/Vs increasing to an average value of 0.70 cm2/Vs at 180 K. Below 180 K a decrease in mobility is observed with further cooling. Overall, these results confirm the …

Cloud Computing is becoming a revolutionizing computing paradigm. It offers various types of services and applications that are being delivered in the internet cloud. The services aim at providing reliable, fault tolerant dynamic computing environment to the user and offers computing resources as per demand. Skype, Dropbox, and Yahoo mail are some of the cloud services that have major impact in our lives. Several measures are taken to maintain the quality of its service in the cloud and to make IT infrastructure available with low cost. This paper presents various aspects of Cloud Computing, its implementation features, challenges and also …
