Fostering Computational Thinking In An Introductory Physics Lab, Diana Sachmpazidi Sep 2019

Fostering Computational Thinking In An Introductory Physics Lab, Diana Sachmpazidi

STEM Instructional Graduate Teaching Assistant Posters

•Thinking computationally means conceptualizing a problem and formulating it in a way that a computer can solve it (Wing, 2010). •Computational Thinking (CT) is the third pillar of the scientific method along with theory and experimentation and is a fundamental skill that K-12 students and undergraduates should be equipped with (Wing, 2016; 2006). •Research on CT has only been active the last 10 years and most studies are still at the stage of ideas (Kalelioglu et al., 2016). •The integration of CT aspects in instruction is a widely expanding phenomenon in physics classrooms in the context of higher education, and …

Unusual Isotopic Effects Produced In Precipitation As A Byproduct Of Unusual Atmospheric Processes, Shelby Hurst Apr 2017

Unusual Isotopic Effects Produced In Precipitation As A Byproduct Of Unusual Atmospheric Processes, Shelby Hurst

Research and Creative Activities Poster Day

Precipitation is the ultimate source of all surface and groundwater recharge. Stable oxygen and hydrogen isotope investigation of precipitation has a long history. The factors controlling these stable isotopes are well known and include mean annual temperature, amount of precipitation, altitude and air mass trajectory (Dansgaard, 1964; Yurtsever and Gat, 1981).

K-X-Ray Emission In Fast O5+ On Ar Collisions, Tamer Elkafrawy Apr 2011

K-X-Ray Emission In Fast O5+ On Ar Collisions, Tamer Elkafrawy

Research and Creative Activities Poster Day

The goal of the present work is to observe x-rays from oxygen for the purpose of investigating resonant-transfer and excitation (RTE) [1], and projectile and target x-ray emission resulting from inner-shell capture. Projectile energies in the range 5-25 MeV will be examined to investigate RTE for heavy targets [2,3].
