The Electrochemical Properties Of 1-Pyrenebutyric Acid/Graphene Composites And Their Application In Glucose Biosensors, Min Wang, Jiong Wang, Fengbin Wang, Xinghua Xia

Journal of Electrochemistry

The electrochemical properties of 1-pyrenebutyric acid/graphene composites (PBA/G) obtained by one-step synthesis via π-π stacking was investigated. The electrochemical impedance titration curve shows the surface charge changes as function of solution pH by using ferricyanide/ferrocyanide redox couple as the probe. An apparent pKa value is estimated as 6.2 according to the impedance titration curve. In addition, a glucose biosensor was constructed by immobilizing glucose oxidase (GOD) on the surface of PBA/G via covalent interaction. This biosensor shows a linear response to glucose within the concentration up to 5 mmol L-1 with a detection limit of 0.085 mmol L …

Synthesis And Characterization Of Functionalized Nanomaterials: Heterogeneous Palladium Catalyst And Lithium-Doped Graphene Oxide, Benjamin E Estes

Doctoral Dissertations

As the Earth's population increases and natural resources decrease in supply, the development of new methods for energy storage and the efficient production of industrial chemicals becomes ever more important to humanity. The development of new nanomaterials may offer technological advances in the fields of sustainable energy production and storage, chemical production, medicine, and many others. The emerging field of nanoscience blends chemistry, physics, and engineering to create new materials that take advantage of properties found only on the nanoscale.

In this work, mesoporous silica spheres are used as a support for nanoparticles of palladium. This nanomaterial is shown to …

Synthesis And Characterization Of Graphene Oxide, Jeremy A. Waddell, Arthur Cheng, Bin Chen Aug 2012

Synthesis And Characterization Of Graphene Oxide, Jeremy A. Waddell, Arthur Cheng, Bin Chen

STAR Program Research Presentations

Graphene, a single atomic layer of sp2 carbon atoms, has gotten a lot of attention from the scientific community because of its excellent mechanical and electronic properties. The mechanical exfoliation methods used to obtain graphene nanosheets are not effective for large scale manufacturing, so scalable synthesis approaches from structurally similar compounds are of great scientific interest. Graphene oxide is one such compound which is synthesized through the oxidation of graphite powder. The oxidation was performed using a modification of the previous experimental procedure. After synthesis, the powder was fabricated into graphene oxide films through vacuum filtration and transfer to …

Preparation And Electrochemical Performance Of Tio2/Gns Nanocomposite As Anode Materials For Lithium-Ion Batteries, Lin-Lin Qin, Huan Zhang, Xiao-Jing Liu, Jian-Hui Xu, Yi-Ning Shi, Ming-Sen Zheng, Quan-Feng Dong Jun 2012

Preparation And Electrochemical Performance Of Tio2/Gns Nanocomposite As Anode Materials For Lithium-Ion Batteries, Lin-Lin Qin, Huan Zhang, Xiao-Jing Liu, Jian-Hui Xu, Yi-Ning Shi, Ming-Sen Zheng, Quan-Feng Dong

Journal of Electrochemistry

The honeycomb-like porous TiO2/graphenes (TiO2/GNs) nanocomposite was prepared by a reflux method. SEM and TEM results showed that nanosized anatase TiO2 (about 5~10 nm) were dispersed uniformly on the surface of the GNs. The TiO2/GNs composite showed excellent rate and cycling performance: A stable charge capacity of 169.5 mAh?g-1 was obtained at 30C, and can restore to 241.7 mAh?g-1 while current went back to 1C. The stable charge capacity of TiO2/GNs nanocomposite electrode up to 201.9 mAh?g-1 was achieved at 10C in the first cycle, and could be maintained at 181.4 mAh?g-1 after 300 times of cycling.

Synthesis And Electrochemical Properties Of Lifeso4f/Graphene Composite As Cathode Material For Lithium-Ion Batteries, Wei Guo, Ya-Xia Yin, Li-Jun Wan, Yu-Guo Guo Apr 2012

Synthesis And Electrochemical Properties Of Lifeso4f/Graphene Composite As Cathode Material For Lithium-Ion Batteries, Wei Guo, Ya-Xia Yin, Li-Jun Wan, Yu-Guo Guo

Journal of Electrochemistry

The LiFeSO4F was successfully synthesized from the reactions of FeSO4?xH2O (x=1, 4, 7) with LiF in tetraethylene glycol media through a facile low temperature method. The structures and microscopic features of the products were characterized by XRD, SEM and TEM. TGA result shows the good thermal stability of the as-prepared LiFeSO4F. No diffraction peaks of the FeSO4 are observed in the as-prepared products with the starting material of either FeSO4?4H2O or FeSO4?7H2O, which should be ascribed to delaying the release of H2O from the hydrated compounds. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results prove that the LiFeSO4F/graphene …

In order to improve specific capacitance and limit electrical resistance, high-quality exfoliatedgraphene decorated with transition metal (Fe, Mn, Co) oxide nanoparticles (NPs) has been successfully synthesized without the use of surfactant via a simple, general, environmentally-friendly chemical process. The specific capacitance of as-prepared graphene/Mn3O4 composite reach 239.6 F/g, when employed as the anode material in neutral NaCl electrolyte solutions (cf. 98.2 F/g for pristine graphene and 141.4 F/g for pure Mn3O4 NPs), which indicate the synergetic effects from both graphene and attached Mn3O4 NPs. Moreover, the high conductivity of …
