Probing Of Carbohydrate-Protein Interactions Using Galactonoamidine Inhibitors, Jessica B. Pickens Dec 2019

Probing Of Carbohydrate-Protein Interactions Using Galactonoamidine Inhibitors, Jessica B. Pickens

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Glycoside hydrolases are ubiquitous and one of the most catalytically proficient enzymes known, and thus understanding their mechanisms are crucial. Most research has focused on the interaction of the glycon of substrates and their inhibitors within the active site of glycoside hydrolases. The inhibitors employed to probe these interactions generally had small aglycons (i.e. a hydrogen atom, amidines, small aliphatic groups, or benzyl groups). Here, the interactions of the aglycon with glycoside hydrolases are examined by probing the active sites with a library of 25 galactonoamidines. The studies described in this dissertation aim to increase the understanding of stabilization of …

Kinetic Study For The Effect Of New Inhibitors On The Activity Of Purified Gpt From Blood Of Cardiovascular Patients, Firas Maher Jul 2019

Kinetic Study For The Effect Of New Inhibitors On The Activity Of Purified Gpt From Blood Of Cardiovascular Patients, Firas Maher

Karbala International Journal of Modern Science

In this study several biochemical parameters for cardiovascular patients have been measured CK-MB ,LDH ,GPT and GOT in addition to lipid profile , MDA ,Vitamin C and Vitamin E . New derivatives of ascorbic acid have been synthesized and tested to inhibit the purified GPT from the blood of cardiovascular patients Glutamate pyruvate transaminase (GPT) was purified from cardiovascular patients using ammonium sulphate salt for precipitation then dialysed using 0.1 M Tris-HCL buffer pH7.8 , then filtrated by gel filtration chromatography using Sephadex G-100 , followed by electrophoresis using poly acrylamide – bis acrylamide and sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS). Derivatives …

Development Of A Hek293 Cell Line To Show Inhibition Of Tau Aggregation, Justin Ray Shady Jan 2019

Development Of A Hek293 Cell Line To Show Inhibition Of Tau Aggregation, Justin Ray Shady

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Intracellular deposition of aggregated tau is the hallmark of several different tauopathies, the most widespread of these being Alzheimer's disease. Tau is a highly soluble, intrinsically disordered, microtubule associated protein. Tau's native function is to stabilize microtubule formation in the axons of neurons. Post translational modification such as hyperphosphorylation as well as several familial mutations allow tau to nucleate and form fibrils. These fibrils can recruit healthy monomers onto their ends in a fashion described as template-assisted growth. Tau has 6 isoforms that vary by the inclusion or exclusion of two N-terminal repeats and the inclusion or exclusion of the …
