Supporting Data – Floating Gardens, Chicago River, April 29, 2018 To November 19, 2019, Eric Wade Peterson, Phil Nicodemus, Emmett Andrew Spooner

Faculty Publications-- Geography, Geology, and the Environment

Between April 29, 2018 to November 19, 2019, water samples were collected upstream and downstream of a floating garden installed along the Chicago River. At each location, samples were collected at the surface and at 0.3 m below the surface. In-situ measurements of Dissolved Oxygen, Specific Conductance, and Temperature were recorded with a YSI 85. Anion samples were analyzed using a Ion Chromatograph for fluoride (F-), chloride (Cl-), nitrate as nitrogen (NO3-N), phosphate (PO4-3), and sulfate (SO4-2). The available dataset provides the recorded field parameters and the analyzed …

Supporting Data - Recycling Of Nitrate And Organic Matter By Plants In The Vadose Zone Of A Saturated Riparian Buffer, Patience Bosompemaa, Eric Wade Peterson, William Perry, Wondwosen M. Seyoum

Faculty Publications-- Geography, Geology, and the Environment

Data from the analysis of nitrate as nitrogen in the soil and soil pore water within the vadose zone of a saturated riparian buffer (SRB). Additional properties measured include: Organic matter (as %), bulk density, moisture content, and porosity. Soil samples were collected pre-growing season (n=57) and post-growing season from two plots (n=29): vegetated plots and barren plots. Statistical comparison of among the treatments, Pre-growing season, plot with plants, and barren plot, and among the different depths, 30 cm, 60 cm, and 90 cm identified significantly different soil NO3--N concentrations. Plots with plants experienced a reduction in …

Compiled Dataset From The National Reservoir Research Program 1989 Dataset, Nicky M. Faucheux, Leandro E. Miranda

College of Forest Resources Publications and Scholarship

This dataset was compiled from the National Reservoir Research Program 1989 dataset. The NRRP dataset includes data from rotenone and creel studies at reservoirs throughout the continental US during the 1980s. We compiled the species level biomass data into total biomass for each of five trophic guilds (piscivores, detritivores, herbivores, invertivores, and planktivores). This compiled dataset was used to investigate the Cascading Reservoir Continuum Concept across 16 river basins in a study conducted by the 2020 Management of Impounded Rivers Class.

These are raw 3-D (x,y,z) point files of a forest plot. Scans were collected at Herty Pines in Statesboro, Georgia, USA. Scans were collected using a Leica ScanStation C-10. Files were co-registered using Leica Cyclone II. Although file extension is ".pts" these are in ASCII format.

Datasets

The locations of our surveyed potholes are located in the Cottonwood Lake Study Area (CLSA) of the USGS Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center (NPWRC). RiverSurveyor M9 by SonTec (RiverSurveyor M9) was utilized to obtain spatially distributed pothole depth data. This way a modified DEM was created which reflected the pothole bathymetry rather than the water surface elevations. The M9 records water depths using multi-band multiple acoustic frequencies from the vertical beam which “pings” the pothole bed while simultaneously collecting the GPS coordinates of each “ping”. High ping rates ensure robust data collection and high resolution. The vertical beam can measure …

The locations of our surveyed potholes are located in the Cottonwood Lake Study Area (CLSA) of the USGS Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center (NPWRC).The HOBO pressure transducers (HOBO Pressure Transducer) used in this hydrologic monitoring study are wireless water level loggers with Bluetooth capabilities for data download. These sensors have a 3-point NIST-traceable calibration certificate from ONSET. They were self-calibrated/lab tested by our NDSU hydrologic modeling group. The measured water level accuracy is ± 0.05 – 0.1%. The sensors were installed in the summers of 2016 and 2017 and removed in late September or early October of each year, respectively. …

A Working Plan For The Woodlands Of The New Haven Water Company; Prepared After Five Years Of Forest Practice, 1908 To 1912, Ralph C. Hawley Jul 1913

A Working Plan For The Woodlands Of The New Haven Water Company; Prepared After Five Years Of Forest Practice, 1908 To 1912, Ralph C. Hawley

Yale School of the Environment Bulletin Series

Soon after the establishment of the Yale Forest School in 1900, the necessity developed for finding forest lands near the city of NewHaven upon which to conduct field work. It was found that many of the most accessible and best timbered tracts were owned by the New Haven Water Company....about 250 acres near the Maltby Lakes were placed under the management of the Yale Forest School. ...a written plan is desirable. The plan is divided into two parts: the first, descriptive of present conditions and passt accomplishments; the second, treating of the policy to be pursued.
