Geology Of The Kurucaşile - Cide Region, Nw Türkiye, Okan Tüysüz Apr 2022

Geology Of The Kurucaşile - Cide Region, Nw Türkiye, Okan Tüysüz

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The lowest unit of the Cide-Kurucaşile region is the Carboniferous coal-bearing terrestrial sediments. Permian aged terrestrial Çakraz Formation and the Triassic lacustrine Çakrazboz Formation unconformably overlie the Palaeozoic sequence. Dogger-aged Himmetpaşa Formation represents a short-period marine invasion. The transgression started in the Kimmerician has led to the development of a carbonate platform, which has risen and demised after the Berriasian. A second carbonate platform, much more limited than the previous one, developed in the Late Barremian, and then the whole region deepened. The Cenomanian is a period of regional uplift and erosion. The first effective volcanic activity in the region …

Investigation Of The Slaking Behavior Of Weak Geological Units In Terms Of Undercutting Rate, Semiha Özdemi̇r, Zeynal Abiddin Ergüler

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

It is aimed in this study to measure the undercutting rate of weak geological units under field conditions and to determine the relationship between this parameter and other indexes and physical properties of related rocks. Thus, 11 different locations in which weak materials were found and undercutting problems were observed in the road slopes were selected. In these road cuts, the undercutting depths in many locations were obtained by measurements taken at different dates from the pins installed in the fresh surface of weak units. In addition, undercutting depth was directly taken by using the amount of erosion between durable …
