This Final EIS documents three alternatives analyzed for the Sloan-Kennally Timber Sale. The sale is to be offered in 2000 and administered by the McCall Ranger District of the Payette National Forest. The Sloan-Kennally sale planning area is located approximately 15 miles southeast of McCall. Alternatives include No Action, the Proposed Action, and Alternative 3, no timber harvest in the roadless area. The preferred alternative is the proposed action, which would harvest timber on 571 acres using tractor and helicopter logging systems. The mixture of silvicultural treatments is designed to mimic historic timber stand structure consisting of scattered large trees …

The Draft and Final Environmental Impact Statements (DEIS and FEIS) assess the environmental consequences of a proposed coal lease sale and subsequent mine development and operation in the Carbon Basin, 11 miles southeast of Hanna, Wyoming. This abbreviated FEIS revises and supplements the DEIS for the Carbon Basin Coal project (DES-98-32) and addresses comments and concerns expressed during the public comment period for the DEIS. The South Manti project area is located approximately 45 miles southwest of Price, Utah. The project area consists of approximately 24,597 acres of National Forest System lands within the southern portion of the Wasatch Plateau (Townships 19, 20, and 21 South; Range 4 East; SLM). This project was initiated in response to epidemic spruce beetle (Dendroctonus rufipennis) activity across the South Manti landscape. Extensive Engelmann spruce mortality has occurred as the result of epidemic spruce beetle populations.
