Hypertension is recognized as one of the serious chronic diseases of humankind and as a major risk factor for death from heart attack and stroke. The cause of essential hypertension is poorly understood. We have investigated the relationship of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and organochlorine pesticide exposure with hypertension and blood pressure in organochlorines exposed residents of Anniston, Alabama.
