The conversion of glycerol to value-added products has received considerable attention recently because the booming biodiesel industry produces a large amount of glycerol as a byproduct. Among various means, electrocatalytic oxidation of glycerol is appealing owing to its environmental friendliness and high efficiency. However, electrooxidation of glycerol is very complex, involving multiple electron and proton transfer processes with many reaction pathways. How to rationally design catalysts with high selectivity toward targeted products is an overarching challenge, and of both fundamental and practical significance. Electrosynthesis Of Glycerol Carbonate From Co2 And Glycerol, Huan Wang, Mei-Xia Zhu, La-Xia Wu, Xiao-Ming Xu, Xue-Ru Zhao, Jia-Xing Lu

Journal of Electrochemistry

Glycerol carbonate was obtained from glycerol and carbon dioxide under room temperature and normal pressure by electrochemical method. The effects of synthesis conditions, such as cathode, charge, current density and temperature, on the reaction of glycerol and carbon dioxide have been investigated. The yields of 73% were produced by electrosynthesis of carbonate under the optimized condition, which is much higher than that by common catalysis method. The electrochemical behavior of the reaction system has been studied by cyclic voltammetry, through which the reaction process has been proposed.

In this paper,Nafion membrane was used as the separator in the electrolysis cell to indirectly electro-generating the double aldehyde starch(DAS) with BrO-3/Br-as a redox mediator and Pb as an anode.Effects of temperature,concentration of sulfuric acid and starch on the electro-oxidation of DAS were discussed.The steady state polarization curves were obtained.The experiment results showed that the current efficiency was over 50% when the electrolysis current density was 15mA/ cm2.

A new electroactive poly(2,2' diaminophenyloxydisulfide) (PDAPD) was successfully synthesized from acetonitrile(AN)/tetrahydrofuran(THF)solutions containing the supporting electrolyte(LiClO 4)and the various kinds of acids(HCl,CF 3COOH,CCl 3COOH) on Pt electrode by consecutive cyclic voltammiry. The effects of the concentrations of supporting electrolyte(LiClO 4) and acid(HCl,CF 3COOH,CCl 3COOH) on electrodepositon of PDAPD film were investigated. The best experimental conditions for electrosynthesis of a highly electroactive conducting polymer film are that the concentrations are 0.1 mol/L and between 0.05 mol/L~0.5 mol/L,respectively for LiClO 4 and HCl.

Titanium alkoxides were prepared by anodic dissolution of metallic titanium in absolute ethanol in the presence of HN(C 2H 5) 2·HCl (electro_conductive additives).The solution was directly hydrolyzed to prepare nanocrystalline of TiO 2 (about 10nm)by a sol_gel process.The precursor gels was calcined at T =450 ℃ and 720 ℃for 30 min,and nanocrystalline of TiO 2 (anatase) with high textural and thermal stability was obtained.FTIR,XRD,TEM,were used to characterize the structure of titanium alkoxides and nanocrystalline of TiO 2.The characteristics of nanocrystalline of TiO 2 was depended on the properties of titanium alkoxides.The Ti(OEt) 4 as a source of titanium yielded the …
