Enhancing Multi-View 3d-Reconstruction Using Multi-Frame Super Resolution, Michael Lee Jan 2022

Enhancing Multi-View 3d-Reconstruction Using Multi-Frame Super Resolution, Michael Lee

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Multi-view stereo is a popular method for 3D-reconstruction. Super resolution is a technique used to produce high resolution output from low resolution input. Since the quality of 3D-reconstruction is directly dependent on the input, a simple path is to improve the resolution of the input.

In this dissertation, we explore the idea of using super resolution to improve 3D-reconstruction at the input stage of the multi-view stereo framework. In particular, we show that multi-view stereo when combined with multi-frame super resolution produces a more accurate 3D-reconstruction.

The proposed method utilizes images with sub-pixel camera movements to produce high resolution output. …

An Adaptive Element Division Algorithm For Accurate Evaluation Of Singular Andnear Singular Integrals In 3d, Hakan Bayindir, Besi̇m Baranoğlu, Ali̇ Yazici Jan 2021

An Adaptive Element Division Algorithm For Accurate Evaluation Of Singular Andnear Singular Integrals In 3d, Hakan Bayindir, Besi̇m Baranoğlu, Ali̇ Yazici

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

An adaptive algorithm for evaluation of singular and near singular integrals in 3D is presented. The algorithmis based on successive adaptive/selective subdivisions of the element until a prescribed error criteria is met. For evaluatingthe integrals in each subdivision, Gauss quadrature is applied. The method is computationally simple, memory efficientand can be applied for both triangular and quadrilateral elements, including the elements with nonplanar and/or curvedsurfaces. To assess the method, several examples are discussed. It has shown that the algorithm performs well forsingular and near-singular integral examples presented in the paper and evaluates the integrals with very high accuracy.

Measuring Accuracy Of Two 3d Printing Materials, Mudassir Ali May 2016

Measuring Accuracy Of Two 3d Printing Materials, Mudassir Ali

Master of Technology Management Plan II Graduate Projects

Part accuracy is one of the important aspect in the manufacturing industry. The overall inaccuracy of the parts being built by RP technology has been one of the major challenges that need to be overcome. Though all the printing materials come with specifications, but the suppliers and manufactures does not specify the accuracy of the materials. In this study we established a study which compares the accuracy of the materials in consideration and performed an experiment to establish the superiority of a material in terms of accuracy over each other. The purpose of this project was to compare the dimensional …

3d Grain Segmentation In Superalloy Images Using Multichannel Edge-Weighted Centroidal Voronoi Tessellation Based Methods, Yu Cao Jan 2013

3d Grain Segmentation In Superalloy Images Using Multichannel Edge-Weighted Centroidal Voronoi Tessellation Based Methods, Yu Cao

Theses and Dissertations

Accurate grain segmentation on 3D superalloy images is very important in materials science and engineering. From grain segmentation, we can derive the underlying superalloy grains' micro-structures, based on which many important physical, mechanical and chemical properties of the superalloy samples can be evaluated. However, grain segmentation is usually a very challenging problem since: 1) even a small 3D superalloy sample may contain hundreds of grains; 2) carbides and noises may degrade the imaging quality; and 3) the intensity within a grain may not be homogeneous. In addition, the same grain may present different appearances, i.e. intensities, under different microscope settings. …

Tree-D-Seek: A Framework For Retrieving Three-Dimensional Scenes, Saurav Mazumdar Apr 2009

Tree-D-Seek: A Framework For Retrieving Three-Dimensional Scenes, Saurav Mazumdar

Electrical & Computer Engineering Theses & Dissertations

In this dissertation, a strategy and framework for retrieving 3D scenes is proposed. The strategy is to retrieve 3D scenes based on a unified approach for indexing content from disparate information sources and information levels. The TREE-D-SEEK framework implements the proposed strategy for retrieving 3D scenes and is capable of indexing content from a variety of corpora at distinct information levels. A semantic annotation model for indexing 3D scenes in the TREE-D-SEEK framework is also proposed. The semantic annotation model is based on an ontology for rapid prototyping of 3D virtual worlds.

With ongoing improvements in computer hardware and 3D …
