Forensic science must satisfy two needs; that of the scientific community and that of the legal profession. It is hoped that the legal and scientific outcomes should be based on one and the same thing. Science, Technology and Law depend upon the establishment of a reliable basis of fact. But in the Court it is the law that finally decides what is fact, what is opinion and what the truth should be.
