Myocardial Infarction (MI), commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when one of the three major blood vessels carrying blood to the heart get blocked, causing the death of myocardial (heart) cells. Landing an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) on a moving platform is a challenging task that often requires exact models of the UAV dynamics, platform characteristics, and environmental conditions. In this thesis, we present and investigate three different machine learning approaches with varying levels of domain knowledge: dynamics randomization, universal policy with system identification, and reinforcement learning with no parameter variation. We first train the policies in simulation, then perform experiments both in simulation, making variations of the system dynamics with wind and friction coefficient, then perform experiments in a real robot system with wind variation. Despite being adopted in software engineering tasks, deep neural networks are treated mostly as a black box due to the difficulty in interpreting how the networks infer the outputs from the inputs. To address this problem, we propose AutoFocus, an automated approach for rating and visualizing the importance of input elements based on their effects on the outputs of the networks. Recent progresses in 3D deep learning has shown that it is possible to design special convolution operators to consume point cloud data. However, a typical drawback is that rotation invariance is often not guaranteed, resulting in networks that generalizes poorly to arbitrary rotations. In this paper, we introduce a novel convolution operator for point clouds that achieves rotation invariance. Our core idea is to use low-level rotation invariant geometric features such as distances and angles to design a convolution operator for point cloud learning. Despite the considerable interest in the detection of toxic comments, there has been little research investigating the causes -- i.e., triggers -- of toxicity. In this work, we first propose a formal definition of triggers of toxicity in online communities. We proceed to build an LSTM neural network model using textual features of comments, and then, based on a comprehensive review of previous literature, we incorporate topical and sentiment shift in interactions as features. Our model achieves an average accuracy of 82.5% of detecting toxicity triggers from diverse Reddit communities.

In recent years, convolutional neural networks have achieved state-of-the-art performance in a number of computer vision problems such as image classification. Prior research has shown that a transfer learning technique known as parameter fine-tuning wherein a network is pre-trained on a different dataset can boost the performance of these networks. In this paper, convergence analysis properties of online gradient training for backpropagation algorithm for feedforward neural networks with a two hidden layer is studied. We assume that in every training cycle, every training pattern in the training dataset is fed in a stochastic form to the feedforward multilayer neural network exactly once. In this study, we give a weak and strong convergence properties for the training approaches, indicating that the gradient of the error function goes to zero and the weights goes to a fixed point value, respectively. Depression prediction is a complicated classification problem because depression diagnosis involves many different social, physical, and mental signals. Traditional classification algorithms can only reach an accuracy of no more than 70% given the complexities of depression. However, a novel approach using Graph Neural Networks (GNN) can be used to reach over 80% accuracy, if a graph can represent the depression data set to capture differentiating features. The article presents a comparative analysis of the fundamental neuroevolutional methods, which are widely applied for the intellectualization of the decision making support systems under uncertainty. Based on this analysis the new neuroevolutionary method is introduced. Abstract: For UCAV having the capability to deal with autonomous air combat, the flight dynamics model with the overload input and the 3-dimensional proportional navigation guidance model were established. Based on artificial neural network, an evasive maneuver decision was presented for avoiding incoming missiles. The degrees of freedom for UCAV-missile system were reduced by coordinate transformation, which simplified the complicated model as a non-linear model with relatively small amount of input and a single output. Autoencoders are a common building block of Deep Learning architectures, where they are mainly used for representation learning. They have also been successfully used in Collaborative Filtering (CF) recommender systems to predict missing ratings. Unfortunately, like all black box machine learning models, they are unable to explain their outputs. We describe our approach for automatically generating presentation slides for scientific papers using deep neural networks. Such slides can help authors have a starting point for their slide generation process. Extractive summarization techniques are applied to rank and select important sentences from the original document. Previous work identified important sentences based only on a limited number of features that were extracted from the position and structure of sentences in the paper. Extracting aspect terms and opinion terms are two fundamental tasks in opinion mining. The recent success of deep learning has inspired various neural network architectures, which have been shown to achieve highly competitive performance in these two tasks. However, most existing methods fail to explicitly consider the syntactic relations among aspect terms and opinion terms, which may lead to the inconsistencies between the model predictions and the syntactic constraints.
