Workforce Preparedness Of Information Systems Students: Perceptions Of Students, Alumni, And Employers, Susan Bristow
Workforce Preparedness Of Information Systems Students: Perceptions Of Students, Alumni, And Employers, Susan Bristow
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Employers of newly hired higher education graduates report their new workforce is not prepared. Further research was required to discover insights to the workforce readiness gap. This concurrent mixed methods study explored what competencies influenced employer's perceptions of the work-readiness of Information Systems (ISYS) undergraduate students and discovered ISYS graduates' and current ISYS students' perceptions of their work-readiness. Participants consisted of a convenience sample including 69 ISYS program upperclassmen, 20 ISYS program alumni, and 8 employers of the ISYS program graduates. ISYS program alumni completed an online Qualtrics survey to measure the participants' perception of their workforce preparedness. ISYS program …
Scholarly Collaboration In Engineering Education: From Big-Data Scientometrics To User-Centered Software Design, Hanjun Xian
Scholarly Collaboration In Engineering Education: From Big-Data Scientometrics To User-Centered Software Design, Hanjun Xian
Open Access Dissertations
Engineering education research has grown into a flourishing community with an-ever increasing number of publications and scholars. However, recent studies show that a significant amount of engineering education knowledge retains a clear disciplinary orientation. If the gaps in scholarly collaboration continue to be prevalent within the entire community, it will become increasingly difficult to sustain community memory. This will eventually inhibit the propagation of innovations and slow the movement of research findings into practice.
This dissertation studies scholarly collaboration in the engineering education research community. It provides a clear characterization of collaboration problems and proposes potential solutions. The dissertation is …
Improving Webide Through Delightful Design And Gamification, Michael Hilton
Improving Webide Through Delightful Design And Gamification, Michael Hilton
Master's Theses
WebIDE is a web-based online learning environment. WebIDE has been used
successfully to teach CS0 and CS1 students Java and C concepts and software
engineering best practices, specically Test Driven Development. Previous Web-
IDE development has concentrated on developing functionality. The main goal
of this eort is to improve two non-functional aspects of WebIDE. The rst is to
design a more delightful user interface. The second is to add a scoring mecha-
nism that encourages students to develop best practices. The scoring mechanism
rewards students who answer the question correctly on the rst attempt, dis-
couraging them from spamming the …
An Experience-Driven Pedagogy For The Instruction Of Software Testing In Computer Science, Christopher Duane Brown
An Experience-Driven Pedagogy For The Instruction Of Software Testing In Computer Science, Christopher Duane Brown
Dissertations, Master's Theses and Master's Reports - Open
In the realm of computer programming, the experience of writing a program is used to reinforce concepts and evaluate ability. This research uses three case studies to evaluate the introduction of testing through Kolb's Experiential Learning Model (ELM). We then analyze the impact of those testing experiences to determine methods for improving future courses.
The first testing experience that students encounter are unit test reports in their early courses. This course demonstrates that automating and improving feedback can provide more ELM iterations. The JUnit Generation (JUG) tool also provided a positive experience for the instructor by reducing the overall workload. …
Integrating The Sap Software Into The Manufacturing Engineering Curriculum, Lin Qian
Integrating The Sap Software Into The Manufacturing Engineering Curriculum, Lin Qian
Open Access Theses
The concept of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) was developed to integrate data efficiently and eliminate redundancy within organizations. Worldwide industries rely on ERP systems to keep a competitive advantage in world market place. Besides, cross-functional knowledge is required in industry. It is critical that schools integrate ERP concepts and methods in to academic curricula for Technology and Engineering School.
This thesis examined the effectiveness of a simulation game as a method for teaching for ERP systems in Technology and Engineering. The quasi-experimental design was used in this study to determine if the SAP simulation game had an impact on students' …

Online Examination System, Yuvesh Kumar Singh
Theses Digitization Project
The purpose of this project focused on how to implement a secure environment for online-examination in an academic and business environment without the need of any special network topologies and hardware devices. It will not only reduce the instructor's load, but will also enhance the system flexibility to fit every instructor's needs and from the examinees point of view. Contains source code.
