Intrusion Detection: Machine Learning Techniques For Software Defined Networks, Jacob S. Rodriguez Aug 2023

Intrusion Detection: Machine Learning Techniques For Software Defined Networks, Jacob S. Rodriguez

Masters Theses

In recent years, software defined networking (SDN) has gained popularity as a novel approach towards network management and architecture. Compared to traditional network architectures, this software-based approach offers greater flexibility, programmability, and automation. However, despite the advantages of this system, there still remains the possibility that it could be compromised. As we continue to explore new approaches to network management, we must also develop new ways of protecting those systems from threats. Throughout this paper, I will describe and test a network intrusion detection system (NIDS), and how it can be implemented within a software defined network. This system will …

Towards Development Of A Remote Charting System For Connected Healthcare, Alex Bodurka Dec 2020

Towards Development Of A Remote Charting System For Connected Healthcare, Alex Bodurka

Masters Theses

Health Care Providers play a crucial role in a patients well-being. While their primary role is to treat the patient, it is also vital to ensure that they can spend adequate time with the patient to create a unique treatment plan and build a personal relationship with their patients to help them feel comfortable during their treatment. Health Care Providers are frequently required to manually record patient data to track their healthcare progress during their hospital stay. However, with hospitals continuously trying to optimize their workflows, this crucial one-on-one time with the patient is often not practical.

As a solution, …

An Approach For Formal Analysis Of The Security Of A Water Treatment Testbed, Sai Sidharth Patlolla Jan 2018

An Approach For Formal Analysis Of The Security Of A Water Treatment Testbed, Sai Sidharth Patlolla

Masters Theses

"This thesis focuses on securing critical infrastructures such as chemical plants, manufacturing units, and power generating plants against attacks that disrupt the information flow from one component to another. Such systems are controlled by an Industrial Control System (ICS) that includes controllers communicating with each other, and with physical sensors and actuators, using a communications network.

Traditional security models partition the security universe into two worlds, secure and insecure, but in the real world the partitions often overlap and information is leaked even through the physical observation which makes it much harder to analyze a Cyber physical system (CPS). To …

Multiple Security Domain Non Deducibility In The Freedm Smart Grid Infrastructure, Manish Jaisinghani Jan 2018

Multiple Security Domain Non Deducibility In The Freedm Smart Grid Infrastructure, Manish Jaisinghani

Masters Theses

"The building block of today's world are not materials, but, computers and algorithms with communication networks between physical entities. A cyber physical system (CPS) is a system in which the cyber and physical entities of the system work together towards a common goal, for example a water treatment facility or an electricity distribution system. These cyber physical infrastructures affect day to day lives of people and hence become target point for the attackers to disrupt normal daily life. Owing to the complexity of a cyber physical system, the attacks have themselves become sophisticated and harder to detect. These sophisticated attacks …

Privacy And Security Issues In Iot Healthcare Applications For The Disabled Users A Survey, Wassnaa Al-Mawee Dec 2012

Privacy And Security Issues In Iot Healthcare Applications For The Disabled Users A Survey, Wassnaa Al-Mawee

Masters Theses

Aging of the population resulted in new challenges for the society and healthcare systems. Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) that depends on Internet of Things (IoT) provides assistance to the disabled people and supports their vital daily life activities. Affordability of and accessibility to AAL and the usage of IoT starts revolutionizing healthcare services. This Thesis is a survey of the privacy and security issues in IoT healthcare applications for the disabled users. Introduction includes definitions of privacy and security terms, and discusses their relationship. Then, it presents an overview of the IoT, including its architecture and components. Next, the Thesis …
