E-Governance Of The Forest: Management By Multivalence, David Cook

Poor forestry outcomes are continuing to occur as global, national and local authorities struggle with key governance issues through poorly enforced regulation, asymmetrical authority and control, and embedded corruption. However the last decade has seen widespread reforms and shifts in authority. These shifts are characterised by the move in authority away from gov~ment towards governance. This new form of governance, often termed 'new modes of governance' represents a shift towards greater participation, information sharing, and stakeholder currency amongst all actors. Within this context egovernance emerges as an obvious vehicle towards the achievement of improved forestry management outcomes.
