Turkish Journal of Chemistry

New methods have been developed for the synthesis of the substituted quinolines and quinazolinones derivatives by utilizing N-(2-aminobenzoyl)benzotriazoles under mild reaction conditions. 3-Acyl-2-alkyl(aryl)-4-hydroxyquinolines were obtained in modarete yields by the reaction of N-(2-aminobenzoyl)benzotriazoles and diketones in the presence of tert-BuOK. 3-Acylamino-4(3H) quinazolinones were obtained in good yields via N-(2-aminobenzoyl)benzotriazoles, orthoester and hyrazides in one-pot.

This dissertation mainly contains three parts: 1) Divergent gold catalysis for alkyne trifunctionalization, encompassing three distinct modes to achieve the simultaneous formation of C-N, C-O, and C-C bonds in a single step 2) the study and development of a new method to synthesize azaborine derivatives; and 3) the construction of benzotriazole boranes (BTAB) as stable four-coordinate N-B heterocycles through gold-catalyzed alkyne hydroboration.

Cobalt is widely regarded as the most promising interconnect material for 10 nm node and beyond. The development of a chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) slurry suitable for cobalt interconnect is a critical component for the application of cobalt interconnect. During CMP process of the interconnect layer, the achievement of high-quality surface after planarization is greatly challenged by the metal corrosion in CMP slurry. Since the development of acid copper plating technology, the role of additives is indispensable. Benzotriazoles are a class of contaminant of emerging concern which are commonly used as anticorrosive agents in aircraft deicer and anti-icing fluids (ADAFs). The analogues 1H-benzotriazole (BTZ), 4-methyl-1H-benzotrizole (4m-BTZ), and 5-methyl-1H-benzotriazole (5m-BTZ) are commonly found in environmental occurrence together. The two methylated isomers, collectively known as tolytriazole (TTZ), have different toxicity and stability. These contaminants are highly water soluble and resistant to biodegradation, making them persistent through water treatment. Previous investigations into the presence of benzotriazole (BTZ) and corresponding analogs done in early 2019 found elevated levels near the Wilmington Air Park in Wilmington, Ohio. The analogs detected were 4-methyl-1H-benzotriazole and 5-methyl-1H-benzotriazole: known together as tolytriazole (TTZ). BTZ and TTZ are emerging environmental contaminants of concern that are often found in aircraft de-icing solutions, anti-icing solutions and detergents. The Wilmington Air Park has two facilities used to pre-treat runoff water before its subsequent release into surrounding streams. Three sites were chosen: Lytle Creek, Indian Run, and Cowan Creek. Benzotriazole (BTri) and its analog compounds are widely used in aircraft de-icing and anti-icing solutions, however their high solubility in water and resistance to biodegradation results in only their partial removal in wastewater treatment, and therefore makes them potential contaminants in watershed systems. The Wilmington Air Park in Wilmington, Ohio currently has two surface-runoff lagoons to pre-treat water containing these de-icing compounds before releasing it into nearby streams. $N$-Acylazole Mediated Stereoselective And Regioselective Synthesis Of $N$-Substituted Azole Acrylonitriles, Osman Aydin, Şule Kökten, Hakan Ünver, İlhami̇ Çeli̇k

Regio- and stereoselective synthesis of $N$-substituted azole acrylonitriles has been achieved smoothly in $N,N$-dimethylformamide (DMF) in the presence of potassium carbonate (K$_{2}$CO$_{3})$ as a base catalyst. $N$-Substituted azole acrylonitriles were obtained in moderate to good yields (39%-87%) with a one-pot reaction between readily available $N$-acetylazoles and Baylis-Hillman nitriles. The structural determinations were accomplished by NOESY $^{1}$H NMR and X-ray crystallography.

A convenient and efficient method has emerged for the one-pot synthesis of substituted quinazolin-4(3$H)$-ones and nonaromatic alkaloids. 2-Substituted quinazolin-4(3H)-ones, 2,3-disubstituted quinazolin-4(3$H)$-ones, and 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1$H)$-ones were obtained at yields of 46% to 95% by a one-pot reaction of $N$-(2-aminobenzoyl) benzotriazoles with amines and orthoesters or aldehydes under catalyst-free conditions.

Eleven novel 1,2,4-triazolylbenzotriazoles have been prepared using 1-(hydrazinylcarbonylmethyl)-1$H$-benzot- riazole (3) as a potent intermediate. Compound 3, however, was obtained from benzotriazole in two steps. All synthesized compounds were characterized by detailed spectral studies like IR, $^{1}$H NMR, $^{13}$C NMR, and mass spectrometry. All synthesized compounds were evaluated for their \textit{in vitro} antimicrobial activity against seven strains of bacteria and four strains of fungi. Compounds 13, 17, 19, 20, and 21}were found to possess antibacterial activity comparable to that of ciprofloxacin against a Klebsiella pneumoniae strain. $N$-Substituted methyl 2-((azolyl)methyl)-3-arylacrylates were synthesized stereo- and regioselectively with one-pot reaction between Baylis--Hillman acetates and a suitable acylazole in the presence of K$_{2}$CO$_{3}$ as a base catalyst. The targeted $N$-substituted azole acrylates were efficiently obtained in good yields (39%-89%).

Cladribine, 2-chloro-2′-deoxyadenosine, is a highly efficacious, clinically used nucleoside for the treatment of hairy cell leukemia. It is also being evaluated against other lymphoid malignancies and has been a molecule of interest for well over half a century. In continuation of our interest in the amide bond-activation in purine nucleosides via the use of (benzotriazol-1yl-oxy)tris(dimethylamino)phosphonium hexafluorophosphate, we have evaluated the use of O6-(benzotriazol-1-yl)-2′-deoxyguanosine as a potential precursor to cladribine and its analogues. (1H-Benzo[d][1,2,3]triazol-1-yloxy)tris(dimethylamino)phosphonium hexafluorophosphate (BOP), 1H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazol-1-yl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate (Bt-OTs), and 3H-[1,2,3]triazolo[4,5-b]pyridine-3-yl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate (At-OTs) are classically utilized in peptide synthesis for amide-bond formation. However, a previously undescribed reaction of these compounds with alcohols in the presence of a base, leads to 1-alkoxy-1H-benzo- (Bt-OR) and 7-azabenzotriazoles (At-OR). Although BOP undergoes reactions with alcohols to furnish 1-alkoxy-1H-benzotriazoles, Bt-OTs proved to be superior. Both, primary and secondary alcohols undergo reaction under generally mild reaction conditions. Correspondingly, 1-alkoxy-1H-7-azabenzotriazoles were synthesized from At-OTs.
