Facile One-Pot Synthesis Of Nico₂Se₄-Rgo On Ni Foam For High Performance Hybrid Supercapacitors, Bahareh Golrokh Amin, Jahangir Masud, Manashi Nath
Chemistry Faculty Research & Creative Works
A facile, innovative synthesis for the fabrication of NiCo2Se4-rGO on a Ni foam nanocomposite via a simple hydrothermal reaction is proposed. The as-prepared NiCo2Se4-rGO@Ni foam electrode was tested through pxrd, TEM, SEM, and EDS to characterize the morphology and the purity of the material. The bimetallic electrode exhibited outstanding electrochemical performance with a high specific capacitance of 2038.55 F g-1 at 1 A g-1. NiCo2Se4-rGO@Ni foam exhibits an extensive cycling stability after 1000 cycles by retaining 90% of its initial capacity. A superior energy density …
Investigation Of Ceria-Nickel Containing Aerogels For Catalytic Converter Applications, Xiao Peng Li
Investigation Of Ceria-Nickel Containing Aerogels For Catalytic Converter Applications, Xiao Peng Li
Honors Theses
Aerogels have physical properties that make them appealing for automotive exhaust catalysis: they are highly porous with low density and high surface area. Current catalytic converter technology uses precious metals (Pt, Pd and Rh) to oxidize CO and unburned hydrocarbons and reduce NO. Catalytic-metal-containing aerogel can potentially be a less expensive alternative for use in catalytic converters. Prior work with nickel-alumina aerogels indicated promise for this application; the goal of including ceria is to increase oxygen storage and thereby enhance catalytic ability. Here, cerium- and nickel-containing aerogels, with an alumina backbone and silica backbone, are fabricated using an epoxide-assisted recipe …

Nickel catalysts are commonly used for cross-coupling reactions such as Negishi, Kumada and Suzuki couplings. While Ni(0), Ni(I), and Ni(II) intermediates are most relevant in these transformations, Ni(III) and Ni(IV) species have also been recently proposed to play a role in catalysis. The formation of C–C and C–heteroatom bonds plays a fundamental role in organic transformations, and today cross-coupling reactions are one …
The Investigation Of Nickel-Based Catalysts For The Oxidative Dehydrogenation Of Ethane, Justin Lane Park
The Investigation Of Nickel-Based Catalysts For The Oxidative Dehydrogenation Of Ethane, Justin Lane Park
Theses and Dissertations
The Investigation of Nickel-Based Catalysts for the Oxidative Dehydrogenation of Ethane Justin Lane ParkDepartment of Chemistry & Biochemistry, BYU Doctor of Philosophy Chemistry The advancement of creating ethylene from ethane via oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) rather than the traditional direct dehydrogenation is right on the cusp of commercialization. The oxidative pathway provides a novel route that reduces the operating temperature of this reaction by 400-500°C. A variety of metals including Mo, V, and Ni that have redox properties suitable for the partial oxidation of small chain alkanes have been investigated. Currently, a MoVNbTe oxide is the most promising catalyst but it …
Development Of Nickel Catalyzed Cross-Coupling Methodologies, Ryan J. Key
Development Of Nickel Catalyzed Cross-Coupling Methodologies, Ryan J. Key
Theses and Dissertations
In this work, we have addressed some of the issues surrounding catalytic crosscoupling reactions by using a nickel terpyridine catalyst, [Ni(tpy)(py)(CH3CN)2](PF6)2 in the Buchwald-Hartwig amination reaction and a functionalized variant, [(2,2':6',2''- terpyridine-4'-benzoic acid)Ni(II)]Cl2 on SiO2, in Suzuki coupling. These processes are unique in the approaches taken to achieve reactivity. In the Buchwald-Hartwig amination reaction, we used photoredox dual catalytic methods to achieve a sustainable approach to generate secondary and tertiary amines. This report is unique in many ways; most importantly, this method uses N-centered radicals to generate new C-N bonds. This report is also the first report to show generation …
