A series of 7-methylenedehydrobenzo[7]annulen-5-ol hexacarbonyldicobalt complexes were generated by Hosomi-Sakurai reactions of allylsilanes containing o-alkynylarylaldehyde-Co2(CO)6 complexes. One of cyclization products was converted into its corresponding dihydrobenzo[7]annulen-7-ol hexacarbonyldicobalt complex, an immediate precursor to a benzodehydrotropylium-Co2(CO)6. The cation was generated in situ and reacted with four nucleophiles, and its aromatic stabilization determined by computational methods.
Analysis Of Dl-Amino Acid Ratios In Eggshells Using Reverse Phase-High Pressure Liquid Chromatography, Gergana Milkova
Analysis Of Dl-Amino Acid Ratios In Eggshells Using Reverse Phase-High Pressure Liquid Chromatography, Gergana Milkova
Honors Theses
HPLC methodology was developed to determine the concentrations and ratios of D to L amino acids in emu and ostrich eggshells treated with heat at different temperatures . We aimed to determine an internal standard and how ratios were affected under different conditions. An HPLC method was determined that gave consistent retention times and satisfactory enantioseparation . Calibration curves for each amino acid were developed from single and multi-amino acid containing dilution series producing a model that most closely replicates the eggshell-extracted amino acids.
Kinetics Of Mashing In Beer Brewing Process, Ken Overway, Austin Reed
Kinetics Of Mashing In Beer Brewing Process, Ken Overway, Austin Reed
Chemistry Faculty Scholarship
The process called mashing, which steeps malted grain in water at specific temperatures in order to optimize enzymatic sugar production, is critical for the beer brewing process. Each kind of grain used to make beer could have unique optimal mashing temperatures since the α- and β-amylase enzymes that produce the sugars are a result of genetic differences. Beer has mainly been brewed with barley, wheat, rye, and less common grains such as corn and rice. Gluten free beer options are very limited, and this is problematic for those suffering from Celiac disease. Quinoa is the focus grain of this project …
The Chemical Analysis And Biological Activities Of The Secondary Metabolites From Dalea Mollis And Dalea Albiflora, Nicholas Peter Hansen
The Chemical Analysis And Biological Activities Of The Secondary Metabolites From Dalea Mollis And Dalea Albiflora, Nicholas Peter Hansen
All Master's Theses
Multidrug resistance has increased since the introduction of drugs used to prevent growth and kill microorganisms in a host. This has caused a worldwide search to discover new drugs effective against microorganisms. Mechanisms of drug resistance include, but are not limited to, the production of biofilms and efflux pumps. Efflux pumps prevent antimicrobial drugs from reaching their biological target, so the coordinated use of efflux pump inhibitors and antimicrobial drugs has been identified as a potential treatment for multidrug-resistant microorganisms. The secondary metabolites of Dalea mollis and Dalea albiflora were tested against multidrug-resistant (MDR) and engineered strains of the fungi …
