In this research, a new ferromagnetic-recoverable core-shell Fe3O4@SiO2@CuO nanocomposite of a certain size (20-25 nm) has been synthesized based on Cu(II) complex coated on Fe3O4@SiO2@CuO nanoparticles by facile and fast solid state microwave irradiation method. The photocatalytic activity of the nanocomposite was investigated for degradation of methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) dye pollutants in aqueous media under solar light irradiation. The nanocomposite could destroy these dyes with high efficiency in short time. With comparison of degradation percentages can be concluded that the nanocomposite shows better photocatalytic activity for MB dye (97% in 180 s). Kinetic study revealed higher …

Effects Of Composition On Catalytic Activities Of Molybdenum Doped Platinum Nanoparticles, Aslihan Sümer Jan 2020

Effects Of Composition On Catalytic Activities Of Molybdenum Doped Platinum Nanoparticles, Aslihan Sümer

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The physical and chemical properties of bimetallic nanoparticles can be optimized by tuning the particle composition. In this study, we identified CO adsorption and dissociation energetics on five Pt-Mo nanoparticles at different concentrations, the lowest energy Pt$_{7}$, Pt$_{6}$Mo, Pt$_{5}$Mo$_{2}$, Pt$_{4}$Mo$_{3}$, and Mo$_{7}$ clusters. We have shown that the CO adsorption and dissociation energies and preferred CO adsorption sites are largely dependent on the composition of the nanoparticles. As the Mo concentration increases, the strength of the C-O internal bond in the adsorption complex decreases, as indicated by a decrease in the C-O stretching frequency. Also, more Mo sites in the …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-allyl acetic acid) [p(NIPAM-co-AAAc)] microgels were synthesized in aqueous medium by free radical emulsion polymerization using N-isopropylacrylamide as monomer, allylacetic acid as comonomer, and N,N-methylene-bis-acrylamide as cross-linker. Silver nanoparticles were fabricated inside the microgels by in situ reduction of silver ions. Microgels were analyzed by UV-visible spectroscopy, FTIR, XRD, TEM, and DLS. The formation of silver nanoparticles was confirmed by UV-visible spectroscopy. UV-visible spectra of the Ag-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-allyl acetic acid) hybrid microgels showed a prominent absorption peak at about 411 nm. This peak was due to the surface plasmon resonance effect of silver nanoparticles. The hybrid microgels were used as catalyst …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

A series of new aminophosphines [Ph$_{2}$PHN-C$_{6}$H$_{4}$-R, where R = $o$-SH (4a), $m$-SH (4b) or $p$-SH (4c)] were readily synthesized from cheap starting materials by the phosphorylation reaction of $o$, $m$, and $p$-aminothiophenols with Ph$_{2}$PCl in the presence of triethyl amine. The new compounds were characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy and microanalysis. In addition, aminophosphine ligands-palladium systems were investigated as precatalysts in C-C coupling reactions. Compounds 4b and 4c were proved to be excellent catalysts for Suzuki and Heck cross-coupling reactions.
