Analysis Of Variable Regions In Feline Leukemia Virus Envelope Sequences, Brianna Sohl

Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is a retrovirus that affects domesticated cats and other species in the Felis genus. There are three major subtypes, each characterized by unique disease progression and proviral sequences. FeLV-A is weakly pathogenic, -B has been associated with tumors, and -C causes severe anemia. Proviral sequences were amplified using PCR with FeL V-specific and adapter-specific primers. The method of primer walking has yielded consensus sequences for several fragments of 1,000-3,000 base pairs of proviral DNA.
