Exploring The Role Of Knowledge In The Pharma Workplace Of The Future: An Interactive Workshop Exploring Culture, Km And Opex, Stephanie Friedrichsen, Nuala Calnan (Editor), Martin J. Lipa

Level 3

This article presents a summary of an interactive workshop facilitated by Nuala Calnan and Stephanie Friedrichsen during the conference: ‘ICH Q9(R1): The Next Frontier’ held in Technological University Dublin, Ireland, on 1 June 2023. The summary was prepared by the workshop facilitators in conjunction with Martin Lipa who was a participant at the workshop. The article is written to give a high-level overview of the discussions which took place during the workshop and is not intended to be a complete representation of all the activities, insights and findings.

ICH Q10 was published in 2008, and presented a model for an effective Pharmaceutical Quality System (PQS). However, the industry still has some way to go in embracing and implementing its principles in order to achieve greater product realisation, to establish and maintain a state of control, and to facilitate continual improvement.

ICH Q10 introduced us to two key enablers: Knowledge Management (KM) and Quality Risk Management (QRM).[1] While the pharmaceutical industry has made progress in implementing the principles of QRM since 2008, there has been significantly slower progress in implementing knowledge management practices. However, there may be solutions …

Advancing Competency In Managing Risk And Knowledge: Steps Toward Operationalisation Of The Risk-Knowledge Infinity Cycle (Rki Cycle) Part 3: Uncovering Knowledge For Qrm Through Knowledge Mapping At Node 1, Martin Lipa, Valerie Mulholland, Anne Greene Jan 2022

Advancing Competency In Managing Risk And Knowledge: Steps Toward Operationalisation Of The Risk-Knowledge Infinity Cycle (Rki Cycle) Part 3: Uncovering Knowledge For Qrm Through Knowledge Mapping At Node 1, Martin Lipa, Valerie Mulholland, Anne Greene

Articles

To date, literature on the Risk-Knowledge Infinity Cycle (RKI Cycle) has mainly been theoretical. This paper series intent is to focus on the operationalisation of the RKI Cycle by describing a series of steps – the “How to” – for RKI Cycle deployment, to help move the RKI Cycle from theory to practice. The third paper in this series focuses on ensuring the best available knowledge flows into QRM through a case study demonstrating knowledge mapping to support effective quality risk assessment during commissioning and qualification activities.

Unlocking The Knowledge: The Key To Delivering The Compliance And Business Benefits Outlined In Ich Q10 For Medicinal Product Manufacture, Nuala Calnan (Editor) Nov 2012

Unlocking The Knowledge: The Key To Delivering The Compliance And Business Benefits Outlined In Ich Q10 For Medicinal Product Manufacture, Nuala Calnan (Editor)

Conference Papers

This paper presents the challenges of delivering a holistic approach to the Pharmaceutical Quality System (Q10) expectations for medicinal product manufacture. It reviews the key findings from the recent ‘Operational Excellence in the Pharmaceutical Industry’ St. Gallen Uni. benchmarking report and explores the theme of 'Knowledge as the Key'. It explores how can we utilise familiar OPEX, Lean/ Six Sigma tools to capture this knowledge and deliver the expectations and opportunities for ICH Q10 and discusses this researchers study in the area of knowledge management and operational excellence.
It also includes a review of both the Regulatory Drivers and recent …
