Intercalation Of Pyrazolone-Based Oxalamide Metal Complexes Into Na-Montmorillonite For Catalytic Liquid-Phase Oxidation Of Phenol Using H2o2, Serhat Uzan, Eyüp Başaran

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The intercalation of pyrazolone-based oxalamide metal complexes into Na-montmorillonite (Na-MMT) for catalytic liquid-phase oxidation of phenol using H2O2 was undertaken by a flexible ligand method using metal ions including Mn(II), Zn(II), and Sn(II). First, the metal ions were exchanged with the sodium ions of Na-MMT, and then these metal ions were complexed with a new pyrazolone-based oxalamide ligand. The intercalated metal complexes were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. Phenol was successfully oxidized by heterogeneous catalysts based on Mn(II), Zn(II), and Sn(II) pyrazolone-based oxalamide complexes intercalated into …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The interaction of drugs with DNA is important for the discovery of novel drug molecules and for understanding the therapeutic effects of drugs as well as the monitoring of side effects. For this reason, many studies have been carried out to investigate the interactions of drugs with nucleic acids. In recent years, a large number of studies have been performed to electrochemically detect drug-DNA interactions. The fast, sensitive, and accurate results of electrochemical techniques have resulted in a leading role for their implementation in this field. By means of electrochemical techniques, it is possible not only to demonstrate drug-DNA interactions …

Targeting Human Telomeric Dna With Azacyanines, Ayça Küçükakdağ Doğu, Özgül Persi̇l Çeti̇nkol Jan 2019

Targeting Human Telomeric Dna With Azacyanines, Ayça Küçükakdağ Doğu, Özgül Persi̇l Çeti̇nkol

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Small molecules targeting telomeric DNA or its interactions with telomerase have been an active area of cancer research. In the present study, we investigated the interactions of six benzimidazole compounds, called azacyanines, differing from each other in alkyl chain length and branching in the benzimidazole ring (azamethyl, azaethyl, azapropyl, azaisopropyl, azabutyl, and azaisobutyl) with human telomeric DNA (tel24) in 1:1 and 1:6 ratio (tel24:azacyanine) using UV-Vis, circular dichroism (CD), and fluorescence spectroscopy. All the compounds were binding to tel24 as indicated by the formation of the weak induced CD band between 320 nm and 360 nm. A substantial red shift …

Electrochemical Responses Of Flexible Graphite In H$_2$So$_4$, Mehmet Suha Yazici Jan 2019

Electrochemical Responses Of Flexible Graphite In H$_2$So$_4$, Mehmet Suha Yazici

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Asymmetric capacitors are gaining attention due to their hybrid nature with higher power and energy density compared to individual batteries or capacitors. Electrochemical and structural characteristics of flexible graphite in 40% H$_{2}$SO$_{4\, }$electrolyte are investigated using electrochemical and microscopy techniques. There is a correlation between intercalation of electrolyte and the enlargement of interlayer spacing and electrochemical response. Conditions favoring planar orientation are electrochemically less active and more stable in such corrosive electrolytes. There are response variations between plain and resin-impregnated flexible graphite samples. The reaction peak seems to be reversible for resin impregnated samples while plain samples show continuous intercalation. …

Use Of Calcined Layered Double Hydroxide [Zn$_{2}$-Al-Co$_{3}$] For Removal Of Textile Dye Acid Green 1 From Wastewater: Kinetic, Equilibrium, Comparative, And Recycling Studies, El Hassane Mourid, Mohamed Lakraimi, Souad El Abridi, Lhaj Benaziz, El Hassan Elkhattabi, Moha Berraho Jan 2018

Use Of Calcined Layered Double Hydroxide [Zn$_{2}$-Al-Co$_{3}$] For Removal Of Textile Dye Acid Green 1 From Wastewater: Kinetic, Equilibrium, Comparative, And Recycling Studies, El Hassane Mourid, Mohamed Lakraimi, Souad El Abridi, Lhaj Benaziz, El Hassan Elkhattabi, Moha Berraho

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

In the present study, calcined layered double hydroxides (CLDHs) were obtained by heating [Zn$_{2}$-Al-CO$_{3}$] at 500 $^{\circ}$C. The adsorption of the textile dye acid green 1 (AG1) by CLDH was carried out at different pH levels, adsorbent--adsorbate contact times, and AG1/CLDH mass ratios. Equilibrium at room temperature was reached after 24 h, which was confirmed by the kinetic modeling of the experimental data by the pseudo-second-order model. The adsorption is described by a Langmuir-type isotherm. The comparative study of adsorption isotherms in calcined and uncalcined phases reveals that the former could be a good candidate for trapping such pollutants. After …

Voltammetry Of The Anticancer Drug Mitoxantrone And Dna, Arzum Erdem, Mehmet Özsöz Jan 2001

Voltammetry Of The Anticancer Drug Mitoxantrone And Dna, Arzum Erdem, Mehmet Özsöz

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The interaction of mitoxantrone (MTX) with calf thymus double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) and calf thymus single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) was studied electrochemically by using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) at a carbon paste electrode (CPE). The changes in the experimental parameters (the concentration of MTX, the concentration of DNA and the accumulation time of MTX) were studied by DPV; in addition, the detection limit and the reproducibility were determined. It was observed for the interaction of MTX with dsDNA and ssDNA that the signal of the bare electrode was higher than the signal of the dsDNA modified CPE. The …
