A new water-soluble template of double-bridged naphthalene diimide appended cyclotriphosphazene was prepared, and its photophysical and sensor behaviors were evaluated. The characterization of novel double-bridged naphthalene diimide appended cyclotriphosphazene (6) was carried out by NMR (1 H, 13C, 31P) and mass spectroscopies. The photophysical behaviors of compound 6 were evaluated by UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence spectroscopies in various solvent systems and different concentrations. Dye lasers are commonly used in optical investigation because their solutions in organic solvents deliver tunable, coherent emissions. They exhibit intense fluorescence owing to some specific spectroscopic characteristics. One drawback of the laser dyes is that it shows excessive triplet-state losses (TSLs.) The lack of theoretical predictions of fluorescence rates, intersystem crossing (ISC), and phosphorescence in laser dyes prompted us to report on the predicted rates of radiative and nonradiative transitions of some laser dyes. Molecular logic gates are information processing devices that can respond to environmental signals and produce a readable output in response through Boolean logic operations. Molecules with these properties have been used to build smart sensors and therapeutic agents. In this work, dual enzyme-responsive molecular AND logic gate is developed with the intention to discriminate various combinations of enzyme level and/or activity. The design or investigation of fluorescence probes continues to receive attention with respect to the diverse applications of spectrofluorometry. Depending on the highly sensitive character, fluorescence spectroscopy-based methodologies have been widely used in recent years in different sciences, including analytical, environmental, and medicinal chemistry areas. In our previous works, we have shown the iron (III) selective on-off sensor properties of benzo[c]chromen-6-one derivatives. Highly crosslinked, inorganic-organic hybrid and intrinsically fluorescent polyphosphazene nanospheres bearing hydroxyl groups on the surface are facilely generated via a one-pot polycondensation of octachlorocyclotetraphosphazene, fluorescein and quercetin. The resulting nanospheres were characterised by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), dynamic light scattering (DLS), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis) techniques. The average diameter of the nanospheres was determined as 379 nm. Also, quercetin which is both a monomer and an anticancer drug was loaded to the nanospheres as 446 mg g-1. A general synthetic method was improved to synthesize a chemosensor based on a tripodal Bodipy (t-BODIPY) structure. The product and its intermediate products were successfully prepared and fully characterized. The metal ion sensing performance of the tripodal compound was evaluated by UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopies. According to the obtained data, t-BODIPY is a selective and sensitive fluorescence probe for detection of Cu2+ ions in the presence and in the absence of competing ions. The 4-(2-[3,4-dimethoxyphenoxy] phenoxy) phthalonitrile was synthesized as the starting material of new syntheses. Zinc, copper, and cobalt phthalocyanines were achieved by reaction of starting compound with Zn(CH3COO)2, CuCl2, and CoCl2 metal salts. Basic spectroscopic methods such as nuclear magnetic resonance electronic absorption, mass and infrared spectrometry were used in the structural characterization of the compounds. Absorption, excitation, and emission measurements of the fluorescence zinc phthalocyanine compound were also investigated in THF. Then, structural, energy, and electronic properties for synthesized metallophthalocyanines were determined by quantum chemical calculations, including the DFT method. Phenyl-4,4-di(3,6-dibutoxyphthalonitrile) (3) was synthesized by the reaction of 1,4-phenylenebisboronic acid (1) and 4-bromo-3,6-dibutoxyphthalonitrile (2), using Suzuki cross-coupling reaction. The newly synthesized compound (3) was characterized by FT-IR, MALDI-MS, ESI-MS, $^{1}$H-NMR, $^{13}$C-NMR, and $^{13}$C-DEPT-135-NMR. The fluorescence property of phenyl-4,4-di(3,6- dibutoxyphthalonitrile) (3) towards various metal ions was investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy, and it was observed thatthe compound (3) displayed a significantly `turn-off? response to Fe$^{3+}$, which was referred to 1:2 complex formation between ligand (3) and Fe$^{3+}$. The compound was also studied via density functional theory calculations revealing the interaction mechanism of the molecule with Fe$^{3+}$ ions.

Phenoxy- and naphthoxy-substituted bisphenol-bridged cyclic phosphazenes were synthesized in 2 steps and their thermal, photophysical, and electrochemical properties were investigated. The structures of the cyclic phosphazene compounds were determined by ESI-MS mass spectrometry and $^{1}$H, $^{13}$C, and $^{31}$P NMR spectroscopies. The photophysical studies of phenoxy- and naphthoxy-substituted bridged cyclophosphazenes were investigated by means of absorption and fluorescence spectroscopies in different solvents. Thermal and electrochemical properties of the target compounds were also studied. Furthermore, the excimer emissions through intramolecular interactions in solution and in solid state were investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy and the theoretical calculations were performed in detail using DFT.

Nitrogen-doped carbon nanodots (CDs) were prepared via the solvothermal method, using urea and triethylene glycol as the starting materials. The as-prepared CDs had individual diameters of approximately 100 nm and were in clusters of different sizes. The surface composition and optical properties of the as-prepared CDs were characterized. They exhibited multicolor emission properties in the visible range when excited with a wide wavelength range. The aqueous solution of the CDs was used in highly sensitive tartrazine determination. The method is based on the recovery of fluorescence of Rh6G dye due to the interaction of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride with Rh6G-Au NPs complex, which results in the release of Rh6G from the complex and halting fluorescence resonance energy transfer between Rh6G and Au NPs. The photophysical properties of new sulfonamides synthesized recently were investigated in different solvents. Shifts in the absorption and fluorescence spectra of both compounds (S10 and S11) occurred depending on the solvents used. Ground and excited state dipole moments of the molecules were calculated using the spectral shifts of the compounds in different solvents and polarity function of solvents, respectively. They were 1.32 and 1.46 D for S10 and 1.71 and 4.89 D for S11. These results suggested that the excited state dipole moments are greater than those in ground state for both molecules. Three new asymmetrical photochromic diarylethenes containing a variable heteroaryl ring and a quinoline unit were synthesized and their structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Their properties, including photochromism, acidichromism, and fluorescence, were investigated systematically. For these diarylethenes, the one with an indole moiety had the largest absorption maximum, cyclization quantum yield, photoconversion ratio, emission peak, and fluorescent modulation efficiency. In addition, these diarylethenes exhibited an evident dual switching behavior induced by the stimulation of acid/base and UV/Vis. Addition of trifluoroacetic acid to solution of the diarylethenes produced protonated derivatives with notable changes in their absorption spectra. These results …

Pyrene dye has many superior characteristics for oxygen sensing studies such as long fluorescence lifetime, high quantum yield, and good sensitivity. It is preferred in some cases over ruthenium dyes for its more lipophilic character and higher sensitivity. However, easy photodegradation of pyrene is a challenging problem. Two fluorescent tetra- and mono-dansylated resorcinarene cavitands were prepared and fully characterized. The X-ray structure of mono-dansylated resorcinarene cavitand was obtained. Their intrinsic absorption and fluorescence properties were studied. These properties were strongly sensitive to the presence of perchloric acid, as evidenced by the appearance of isobestic points upon protonation of the dansyl dimethylamino functions. The decreasing of the fluorescence emission intensity upon titration with perchloric acid was explained by the excited state interactions between the dansyl groups of the resorcinarene. The synthesis, characterization, and spectroscopic properties of novel nonperipherally tetrasubstituted metallophthalocyanines (zinc, cobalt, copper, manganese, and indium) bearing 4 (7-(trifluoromethyl)quinolin-4-yl)oxy units has been reported. The new compounds have been characterized using UV-Vis, IR, ^1H NMR, ^{13}C NMR, ^{19}F NMR, and mass spectroscopic data. The absorption properties of these new complexes were compared to those of peripherally substituted phthalocyanine derivatives. Based on the structural, spectroscopic, and absorption studies, it was found that the substitution effect altered the electronic structures significantly. The inclusion complexation of flavanone with \beta-cyclodextrin was studied by ultraviolet absorption, steady state fluorescence, time-resolved fluorescence, and 2D ROESY nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic techniques. A 1:1 stoichiometric ratio was determined for the inclusion of flavanone with \beta-cyclodextrin. The Stern--Volmer constant for the accessible fraction of the binding of flavanone with \beta-cyclodextrin, and the binding constant for the flavanone--\beta-cyclodextrin complex are reported. A phthalocyanine--fluorescein conjugate was designed and prepared. Its photophysical properties (electronic absorption and fluorescence) were determined and compared with those of an analogous derivative functionalized by a simple triazole without chromophore. It is likely to be used as a theranostic agent in photodynamic therapy.

A New Dinuclear Lead(Ii) Complex Of 2,3-Diphenyl-Tetrazole-5-Thione: Synthesis And Characterization, Ruirui Zhuang, Fangfang Jian, Kefei Wang

The present work reports on the synthesis, crystal structure, fluorescence, electrochemical behavior, and thermogravimetric analysis of a new dinuclear lead(II) complex of 2,3-diphenyl-tetrazole-5-thione. Its structure was characterized by X-ray crystallography, IR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. Each lead atom adopts a distorted octahedral geometry by coordinating to 2 sulfur atoms from 2 2,3-diphenyl-tetrazole-5-thione ligands and 4 oxygen atoms from 3 nitrates. The fluorescence spectrum shows that the title complex has 2 fluorescence emission peaks, at 412 nm and 433 nm. A Systematic Study On The Absorption And Fluorescence Properties Of 2,4,6-Triaryl And Tripyridylpyridines, Esra Findik, Mustafa Arik, Mustafa Ceylan

Eight different 2,4,6-triaryl, and tripyridylpridines compounds were synthesized and their fluorescent properties were studied by using steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy techniques in 6 different solvents. Especially, 2,4,6-triarylpyridines showed strong fluorescence properties with high fluorescence quantum yields but small Stokes shifts.
