A series of new derivatives of N-(1-methylpyridin-4(1H)-ylidene)amines, [L1]-[L5], were synthesized and characterized by FTIR, NMR, MS, and XRD analysis. These targeted compounds were synthesized by the melt reaction between N-methylated-4-chloropyridinium triflate and corresponding amines (1-naphthyl amine, o-ansidine, 2-nitroaniline, p-ansidine, and cyclohexyl amine) followed by the addition of sodium hydride in dichloromethane in the same pot. These highly electron-donating N-(1-methylpyridin-4(1H)-ylidene)amine ligands considerably improve the catalytic activity of palladium acetate towards Heck-Mizoroki carbon-carbon cross-coupling reactions.

Synthesis And Evaluation Of Catecholase Activities Of Metal Complexes Of 1,4-Substituted Piperazine Mannich Base Of 4-Acetamidopheno, Ayowole Olaolu Ayeni, Gareth Mostyn Watkins

The synthesis and characterisation including $^{1}$H and $^{13}$C NMR spectroscopy of a Mannich~base~1,4-di-(5-acetamido-2-hydroxybenzyl)piperazine~is herein reported. The Mannich reaction leading to the formation of the ligand took place at both ends of piperazine. Four metal complexes [Cu(II) and Fe(III)] including those bearing thiocyanate groups (SCN-) in N- and S-bonding modes have been studied for their abilities to mimic catecholase oxidase. All the metal complexes are catalytically active with the highest turnover rate (k$_{cat})$ recorded for complex 3. The catalytic process as monitored by $^{1}$H NMR spectroscopy (isolation of 3, 5-DTBQ) and iodometric titration revealed the formation of H$_{2}$O$_{2}$ and thus implied …

An efficient synthetic route has been described for the alkylation of 1$H$-indole, 1$H$-benzimidazole, and 1$H$-benzotriazole. This approach features the alkylation of heteroaromatics through in situ generated enones from ketonic Mannich bases under metal-free conditions. A series of alkylated heteroaromatics have been synthesized via the K10 catalyzed alkylation reactions of these heteroaromatics with a variety of ketonic Mannich bases. Environmentally benign K10 catalyst, water-mediated mild reaction conditions, and the efficient synthesis of alkylated products are the advantages of this alkylation method.

A one-pot, environmentally friendly, and efficient protocol for the synthesis of novel polyfunctionalized benzo[$a$]pyrimido[5',4':5,6]pyrido[2,3-$c$]phenazine derivatives has been reported by a one-pot, four-component sequential reaction between 2-hydroxynaphthalene-1,4-dione, benzene-1,2-diamines, benzaldehydes, and 6-amino-1,3-dimethyluracil in the presence of $p$-TSA as a nontoxic, inexpensive, ecofriendly, and efficacious solid acid catalyst. Two C-C bonds, two C=N bonds, and one C-N bond, as well as two new rings, were formed in this reaction. Through this procedure, compounds with substantial biological and pharmaceutical properties are generated in a single operation. Photophysical properties of lamotrigine (LMT) were investigated at different pH values. Lamotrigine exhibited a broad absorption band at 308 nm that was shifted to 268 nm at pH 2.0 due to protonation (HLMT$+)$. Emission spectra of LMT at different pH values showed a single band at 483 nm except for at pH 2.0, where a second band at 502 nm was observed due to the deprotonation from the singlet excited state. ZnO powder was synthesized via a hydrothermally assisted sol-gel method. Synthesis variables including Zn-precursor type, pH value, time, and temperature of hydrothermal treatment were analyzed using the Taguchi approach. The experimental procedures were defined based on the L9 array for four variables in three levels. The influences of those variables on the response parameters, i.e. crystallite size, crystallinity, band gap energy ($E_{g})$, and degradation constants ($k)$, were evaluated. XRD results and $E_{g}$ values showed that ZnO wurtzite appeared to be the only crystalline phase in the samples. Superhydrophobic nanocomposite coatings for magnesium surfaces with remarkable corrosion resistance were fabricated by electrospinning in the presence of fluorosilane-functionalized silica (SiO$_{2})$ nanoparticles. The effects of surface-modified silica (mod-SiO$_{2})$ nanoparticles on the superhydrophobicity and corrosion resistance of polystyrene (PS)/mod-SiO$_{2}$ fiber coatings were evaluated. The incorporation of the SiO$_{2}$ nanoparticles endows PS fibers with rough surfaces exhibiting a water contact angle (WCA) of 165$^{\circ}$. The surface wettability, corrosion resistance, and their relation to the inorganic content in the PS fibers and the contact angle of the composite coatings were explored. A highly sensitive and simple method based on an ionic liquid/ex situ bismuth film-modified single-use pencil graphite electrode (IL/Bi/PGE) was offered for the electrochemical detection of cefixime (CEF) for the first time. The synergistic effects of the ionic liquid and bismuth film combination as the surface modifier remarkably improved the electrochemical response of the modified sensor. Anodic oxidation of CEF was observed at 0.9 V vs. Ag/AgCl/3 M KCl as one well-defined irreversible oxidation peak. Ultra-heat-treated (UHT) cow milk is mostly consumed in Turkey. Heating milk can cause some chemical and biochemical changes that affect different components of milk. However, studies on the constituents of UHT milk are scare. In the present study, nitrate and thiocyanate contents of commercial UHT~whole cow milk were determined simultaneously by sample stacking-capillary electrophoresis. The best separation of nitrate and thiocyanate ions was performed by reducing the electroosmotic flow at pH 4.0 using 30 mM formic acid and 30 mM sodium sulfate containing separation electrolyte. Four metallo (zinc, copper, vanadyl, and indium) phthalocyanine derivatives bearing four aliphatic (hexylthio) groups were prepared from corresponding phthalonitrile compounds. The metallophthalocyanines were characterized with ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and mass and elemental analyses techniques. Aggregation properties of metallophthalocyanines in solution were studied in varied concentration ranges. Thin films of metallophthalocyanines were obtained by spin coating technique. Optical measurements showed that transmittance values of metallophthalocyanine thin films obviously changed with respect to the metal ion in the phthalocyanines. A new approach based on a selective charge transfer reaction with alizarin red S is described for the simultaneous determination of azithromycin and levo oxacin in their binary mixtures using an absorption-factor spectrophotometric method. Native absorbance was used for the determination for levo oxacin, while a charge transfer complexation of alizarin red S served as the basis for the quantitation of azithromycin. The reaction of azithromycin with alizarin red S was possible in methanol under neutral conditions within 15 min at 25 ℃. Preparation of benzaldehyde by Swern oxidation of benzyl alcohol was carried out in a continuous flow microreactor system. Dimethyl sulfoxide (Me2SO) was used as oxidizing agent and oxalyl chloride or p-toluenesulfonyl (p-TsCl) chloride was used as the activating agent. In this work, surface-functionalization agents and various salts as auxiliaries were used to improve the adsorption capacity of biochars produced via hydrothermal carbonization of glucose, cellulose, and hazelnut shell. The effect of surface functionalization with different acids and bases as well as neutral salts on the adsorption of methylene blue and methyl orange was investigated using Boehm titration, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy techniques. As a starting material, 7-tert-butyldibenzo [b,e] [1,4] dioxine-2,3-dicarbonitrile was prepared by the reac- tion of 4-tert-butylcatechol with 4,5-dichlorophthalonitrile. Metallophthalocyanine complexes 4-7 were obtained by cyclotetramerization of 7-tert-butyldibenzo [b,e] [1,4] dioxine-2,3-dicarbonitrile. All compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and other spectroscopic methods (IR, UV/Vis, and $^{1}$H NMR). Phthalocyanine compounds remained nonaggregated in tetrahydrofuran at the studied concentration ranges. Metallophthalocyanines 4-7 were tested for their antioxidant activities. The antioxidant activity processes included evaluation of radical-scavenging activity, chelat- ing activity, and reducing power. These compounds were compared to standard antioxidant ascorbic acid. Gas Permeability Of Polydimethylsiloxane Membranes Lled With Clinoptilolite Indifferent Cationic Forms, Çi̇ğdem Atalay-Oral

Zeolite-polymer mixed matrix membranes were prepared by lling polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with clinop- tilolite in various cationic forms of K, Mg, H, and Na. The membranes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy as well as measurements of O$_{2}, $N$_{2}$ and CO$_{2}$ gas permeabilities. The results indicated the presence of an optimum zeolite loading in the mixed matrix membranes maximizing permeability. The type of the cationic form of clinoptilolite used affected the permeabilities and ideal selectivities of the zeolite-polymer mixed matrix membranes investigated to some degree and some improvements were obtained when compared to the ideal selectivities of the original polymeric membranes.

In the present study the nanocapsulation of Haloxyfop-R-methyl in poly(methyl methacrylate) was success- fully performed. Poly(methyl methacrylate)/Haloxyfop-R-methyl nanocapsules were synthesized using a miniemulsion method and their surface morphology was studied by scanning electron microscopy and transition electron microscopy. Coumarinyl 1,3,4-oxadiazoles were synthesized from Schiff bases and acetic anhydride. All compounds were characterized by melting points and their structures confirmed by mass and $^{1}$H and $^{13}$C NMR spectrometry. These novel coumarinyl derivatives were subjected to antibacterial, antifungal, anta atoxigenic, and antioxidant activity. Their activity varied depending on their structure, where 2-(3-acetyl-5-(((4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-7-yl)oxy)methyl)- 2,3-dihydro-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)-1,4-phenylene diacetate showed significant antioxidant and antibacterial activity on B. subtilis. 4-(3-Acetyl-5-(((4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-7-yl)oxy)methyl)-2,3-dihydro-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)-1,2-phenylene diacetate was found to possess excellent antifungal and antia atoxigenic activity.

Herein we synthesized Cu(II) immobilized on Fe$_{3}$O$_{4}$ @Agarose functionalized with ethanolamine phosphate{ salicylaldehyde Schiff base (Fe$_{3}$O$_{4}$ @Agarose/SAEPH$_{2}$ /Cu(II)) as a new and cost-effective nanomagnetic catalyst. The nanomagnetic catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, VSM, SEM-EDX, TEM, TGA, and ICP techniques and it was found that the particles were about 9-25 nm in size and spherical with entrapment of the Fe$_{3}$O$_{4}$ particles in the hollow pore structure of the agarose. The prepared nanomagnetic catalyst showed excellent activity for preparation of 2-substituted imidazolines, oxazolines, and thiazolines. An efficient synthetic route for a novel series of chalcones 2a-2d as well as for the corresponding flavanones 3a-3d and flavones 4a-4d, using functionalized tetrahydronaphthalene (THN), is described herein. The Claisen-Schmidt condensation of such THN and aromatic aldehydes, in the presence of an aqueous solution of KOH (40%), selectively gives the expected chalcones 2a-2d, which may further undergo an intramolecular oxa-Michael addition using piperidine, affording the corresponding flavanones 3a-3d in high yields. Alternatively, treatment of such chalcones 2a-2d with I$_{2}$/DMSO provides rapidly, in a one-pot oxidative cyclization, a series of flavones 4a-4d in excellent yields ranging from 85% to 90%.

Transfer Of The Protonable Surfactant Dipalmitoyl-Phosphatidylcholine Across A Large Liquid/Liquid Interface: A Voltammetric Study, İbrahi̇m Uyanik

Adsorption behavior of the zwitterionic phospholipid dipalmitoyl-phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) at the polarizable liquid/liquid interface formed between water and 1,2-dichloroethane electrolyte solutions is studied taking into account both the pH of the aqueous phase and the concentration of the phospholipid in the organic phase by cyclic voltammetry. Experimental results showed that the adsorption of the phospholipid strongly depends on the pH of the aqueous phase, which determines the surface ionization of the polar head of the phospholipid molecule and hence the stability of the adsorbed layer of phospholipids.

Novel, nonperipherally tetrasubstituted cationic metal-free and metallophthalocyanines (Zn, In) were synthesized in the present study. The binding constants, the disappearance of quenching effect of all cationic phthalocyanines on the fluorescence intensity of SYBR Green--disodium salt of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) from calf thymus complex, and the changes in T$_{m}$ of double helix DNA with thermal denaturation profile were investigated by UV-Vis and fluorescence spectrophotometric methods. To investigate the spontaneity of the reactions between DNA and novel quaternized phthalocyanines in buffer, thermodynamic parameters were employed.

1-Methyl-2-(2-(prop-2-yn-1-yloxy)benzylidene)hydrazine analogues were readily prepared in good yields by the reaction of 2-(prop-2-yn-1-yloxy)benzaldehydes and methyl hydrazine. The reaction tolerates a variety of substituents on the 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde to form nitro-, halo-, methoxy-, and naphthyl-substituted 1-methyl-2-(2-(prop-2-yn-1-yloxy)benzylidene)hydrazines. The in vitro antioxidant capacity measurements revealed that among all the analyzed hydrazine analogues that surpassed the Trolox standard, 1-(2-(but-3-ynyl)-5-nitrobenzylidene)-2-methylhydrazine had the maximum value, which was approximately 1.7 times that of Trolox.

In this work, a very simple, rapid, cheap, sensitive, and selective polymer film-modified electrode for vanillin determination in commercial food products was developed via electrochemical polymerization and overoxidation of pyrrole. The formation of both poly(pyrrole) and overoxidized poly(pyrrole) films on a glassy carbon electrode surface was characterized by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Under optimized conditions, the calibration graph comprises two linear segments of 0.032-1.500 $\mu $mol L$^{-1}$ and 3.00--150.00 $\mu $mol L$^{-1}$ with a detection limit of 0.012 $\mu $mol L$^{-1}$. Tetra-coordinated nickel(II) complexes of two ONS (1, \2) and seven ONN (3a-3g) chelating 2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzaldehyde thiosemicarbazones were synthesized. The dibasic ligands and complexes bearing PPh$_{3}$ as a coligand were characterized by means of analytical and spectroscopic data. Cytotoxic activities of the ligands and nickel(II) complexes were determined using the MTT assay in vitro against MDCK cells, and then all the compounds were tested on influenza virus replication by plaque assays. The imperative demand for antibacterial agents and enzyme inhibitors prompted us to synthesize some new compounds, 6a-6k, bearing multifunctional moieties. The target acetamides were derived from 4-phenyl-5-(1-tosylpiperidin-4-yl)-4$H$-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol (3). The structural analysis was carried out using modern spectroscopic techniques including IR, NMR, and EIMS spectral analysis. The antibacterial activity was screened against five bacterial strains including three gram-negative and two gram-positive ones. Enzyme inhibition was carried out against lipoxygenase enzyme and results were supported by in silico study. The synthesized compounds were proved to be potent antibacterial agents and enzyme inhibitors.
