The Threads That Shape Us: Fashioning A Sustainable Future From Silk, Bryne Croyle Johnson

Silk has been used for centuries as a natural fiber, but has declined in popularity due to synthetic alternatives. In this pop-science article style paper, the history, present, and possible futures of silk are discussed at a generally accessible level. Anthropology, Biology, Sociology, and Environmental Science are brought together to present a case for a renewed interest in silk as a sustainable fiber.

Sustainability can be called the ability to be permanent. The economic, social and ecological dimensions of sustainability are important in terms of gastronomy. The rapid development of gastronomy in recent years has led many studies in literature to discuss gastronomy from different perspectives. In the research, bibliometric profiles of publications in which the concepts of sustainability and aviation are used together were revealed. As a publication, the studies reached by scanning the words sustainability and airline/airway/aviation in the Scopus database were considered. A total of 80 studies published between 1984-2022 were the subject of the research. The data obtained within the scope of the research were reached on January 10, 2022. Examined publications; publication year, authors, field, institution of publication, country of publication, type of publication, cited journals and keywords used in the research. Using fibers in concrete applications has become a common practice. This is partly due to improvement in ductility and crack control of concrete. There will be an added advantage if these fibers come from a waste source as it would lead to reduction in environmental pollution and the need for landfill spaces.
