Assessing Job Vulnerability And Employment Growth In The Era Of Large Language Models (Llms), Prudence P. Brou Jun 2024

Assessing Job Vulnerability And Employment Growth In The Era Of Large Language Models (Llms), Prudence P. Brou

Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects

This paper explores the impact of Large Language Models (LLMs) and artificial intelligence (AI) on white-collar occupations in the context of job vulnerability and employment growth. Utilizing the Kaggle dataset "Occupation Salary and Likelihood of Automation," the study employs a data-driven approach to analyze trends across states. Through interactive data visualization, the project aims to provide actionable insights for affected workers, businesses, and policymakers navigating the changing dynamics of the workforce amidst technological advancements.

Machine Learning Applications For Drug Repurposing, Hansaim Lim Sep 2020

Machine Learning Applications For Drug Repurposing, Hansaim Lim

Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects

The cost of bringing a drug to market is astounding and the failure rate is intimidating. Drug discovery has been of limited success under the conventional reductionist model of one-drug-one-gene-one-disease paradigm, where a single disease-associated gene is identified and a molecular binder to the specific target is subsequently designed. Under the simplistic paradigm of drug discovery, a drug molecule is assumed to interact only with the intended on-target. However, small molecular drugs often interact with multiple targets, and those off-target interactions are not considered under the conventional paradigm. As a result, drug-induced side effects and adverse reactions are often neglected …

Rationality, Parapsychology, And Artificial Intelligence In Military And Intelligence Research By The United States Government In The Cold War, Guy M. Lomeo

Theses and Dissertations

A study analyzing the roles of rationality, parapsychology, and artificial intelligence in military and intelligence research by the United States Government in the Cold War. An examination of the methodology behind the decisions to pursue research in two fields that were initially considered irrational.

Cross-Talk: A Shared Parameter Space For Gesturally Extended Human/Machine Improvisation, William Brent, Adam James Wilson Jan 2012

Cross-Talk: A Shared Parameter Space For Gesturally Extended Human/Machine Improvisation, William Brent, Adam James Wilson

Publications and Research

This paper describes Cross-talk, a piece of music and performance system for two instruments augmented with infrared motion-tracking capability, and an artificial software improviser. Cross-talk was commissioned by the Ammerman Center for Arts and Technology at Connecticut College, for the 13th Biennial Symposium on Arts and Technology. The work is part of an ongoing collaboration focused on developing integrated hardware and software performance systems to extend the timbral and expressive capabilities of traditional musical instruments and to generate musical structure in response to information retrieved from human performers in real-time. Artistic motivations and prior related work are presented here, along …
