Livestock Performance In Response To High Intensity Rotational Grazing System, Austin Kennedy
Livestock Performance In Response To High Intensity Rotational Grazing System, Austin Kennedy
Honors Theses
The production of livestock is composed of a variety of factors all effecting the outcome. For grazing livestock, a key factor in production is the grazing management system. Two of the most common grazing management systems are continuous grazing and rotational grazing. There has been evidence found proving benefits of rotational grazing in regard to vegetation productivity, and prevention and restoration of degraded rangeland. However, there is a lack of clear evidence on the relationship between grazing system and production metrics of livestock. Understanding this relationship can provide the necessary information for livestock producers in order to increase their production …

The Effects Of Rations Containing Ad Libitum Limestone Grit With Whole Flaxseed On Quails?Performance, Egg Quality, And Blood Parameters, Kadi̇r Emre Buğdayci, Fatma Karakaş Oğuz, Mustafa Numan Oğuz, Cafer Mercan
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
The purpose of this research is to determine the effects of consuming feed rations containing ad libitum limestone grit with whole or ground flaxseed (10%) on quails? performance, egg quality (shape index, albumen index, yolk index, and Haugh unit), and some blood parameters (hematocrit, cholesterol, and triglyceride) during a period of 8 weeks. Five weeks old quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica; 140 in total) were divided into control and 4 trial groups. The rations of the first (W) and second (G) trial groups consisted of whole or ground flaxseeds (10%), respectively. The composition of the rations of the third (Wg) and …

Acute Phase Proteins, Endocrine And Productive Responses Of Laying Hens To Heat Stress, Amani Aldawood, Hosam Altamimi
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
This study was designed to characterize changes in the acute phase proteins (APPs), hormones parallel to performance, and egg quality traits in laying hens exposed to heat stress (HS). A total of 120 sixteen-week-old Lohmann hens was allowed an adaptation period of 5 weeks in 3 different rooms at 21 °C. The hens were then exposed to one of three climatic thermal treatments over the next 6 weeks; thermoneutrality (TN, 21 °C), constant (C-HS, 28 °C), and cyclic HS (HS, 20 h/d at 28 ± 1 °C and 4 h/d at 33 ± 1 °C). Blood samples were weekly obtained, …
