Reproductive And Dairy Performances Of Thai Swamp Buffaloes Under Intensive Farm Management, Thuchadaporn Chaikhun, Ranchuan Hengtrakunsin, Fabio De Rensis, Mongkol Techakumphu, Siriwat Suadsong
The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
In this study the reproductive and dairy performances of swamp buffaloes under intensive farm conditions were evaluated. The data of reproduction and milk production were collected from forty-eight swamp buffaloes during the period of 2001 to 2010. The reproductive and dairy performances were analyzed as mean±SD of each index. The age at first calving was 47.1±8 months and the gestation period was 321.4±11.3 days. The service per conception was 3.5±2.5, with insemination by both natural and artificial mating. The calving interval and the days open were 486.2±75.02 and 166.2±69.7 days (n=99), respectively. Additionally, there was a large increase in primiparous …

Effects Of Inulin And \Beta-Glucan Supplementation In Broiler Diets On Growth Performance, Serum Cholesterol, Intestinal Length, And Immune System, Asia Sanhouri Elrayeh, Gülteki̇n Yildiz
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
This study was designed to investigate the effects of a supplement of inulin and \beta-glucan into broiler rations on growth performance, serum cholesterol, intestinal length, and immune system. A total of 320 male 1-day-old Ross PM3 broiler chicks were divided into 1 control and 3 treatment groups, each comprising 80 birds. Each group was divided into 4 replicate groups of 20 birds each. The treatment groups were supplemented with 0.7% inulin, 0.014% \beta-glucan, and 0.7% inulin + 0.014% \beta-glucan, respectively. The experiment lasted for 6 weeks. Immunomodulatory roles were also investigated by measuring the effects on specific antibody titer, and, …

Performance Analysis Of A Two Stage Pad Cooling System In Broiler Houses, Meti̇n Petek, Serdal Di̇kmen, Mehmet Mustafa Oğan
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
The cooling performance of a traditional (control) and two stage evaporative pad cooling system (experiment), including pad and fan with tunnel ventilation, for poultry houses and the growth performance of broilers reared in these systems was compared in a study performed during extreme summer temperatures. The experimental unit had a two stage pad cooling system, which consisted of underground tubes and a box, followed by a pad cooling system with tunnel ventilation. The control unit had a traditional evaporative cooling system, including pad and fan with tunnel ventilation. Air temperature, relative humidity, and saturation efficiency were used to determine the …
Effect Of Dietary Aspergillus Meal Prebiotic On Growth Performance, Carcass Characteristics, Nutrient Digestibility, And Serum Lipid Profile In Broiler Chick Low-Protein Diets, Saeid Amirdahri, Hossein Janmohammadi, Akbar Taghizadeh, Abbas Rafat
Effect Of Dietary Aspergillus Meal Prebiotic On Growth Performance, Carcass Characteristics, Nutrient Digestibility, And Serum Lipid Profile In Broiler Chick Low-Protein Diets, Saeid Amirdahri, Hossein Janmohammadi, Akbar Taghizadeh, Abbas Rafat

The effects of 3 levels of commercial Aspergillus meal prebiotic (Fermacto®) in broiler diets with 2 levels of dietary crude protein (CP) on the growth performance, carcass characteristics, apparent ileal digestibility of CP and organic matter (OM), and serum lipid profile were evaluated using 240-day-old broiler chickens as a factorial arrangement in a completely randomized design. From the grower period, 3 groups received normal diets formulated to meet Ross-308 CP and other nutrient requirements with 3 levels of Fermacto®. The other 3 groups received experimental diets with 2% less CP, with the same levels of Fermacto®. None of the growth …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
Twenty worm-free male West African dwarf (WAD) goats, 7-8 months of age, were used to study the effect of dietary protein on their response to mixed infections of trychostrongyles. The goats were divided into 4 groups (A-D), each containing 5 animals. Groups A and B were fed forages with concentrate feed containing 17.06% crude protein, whereas Groups C and D were fed forages alone. An escalating infection of 500 infective larvae (L3), 1000 L3, 2000 L3, and 4000 L3 was given consecutively at weeks 0, 1, 2, and 3, respectively, for 4 weeks to groups A and D. Patency and …
