The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Swine influenza virus (SIV) causes respiratory disease in pigs leading to economic losses in swine production. Some SIV subtypes can also infect human and considered as a zoonotic pathogen. The importants of swine influenza are not only impact on the economic losses but also the human health. The objectives of this study were to develop a reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification combined with lateral flow device assay (RT-LAMP-LFD) for the detection of SIVs and to evaluate the performance, sensitivity and specificity of the assay. Our result showed that RTLAMP-LFD assay was developed with six newly designed primers and with optimum …

Performance Analysis Of The Combined Plug-Flow Anaerobic Digester (Pfad) And Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (Uasb) For Treating Swine Wastewater In Thailand, Chackrit Nuengjamnong, Pichaya Rachdawong Sep 2016

Performance Analysis Of The Combined Plug-Flow Anaerobic Digester (Pfad) And Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (Uasb) For Treating Swine Wastewater In Thailand, Chackrit Nuengjamnong, Pichaya Rachdawong

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

The objective of this research was to analyze the overall performance, especially the removal efficiency, of the combined plug-flow anaerobic digester (PFAD) and upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) system, at a large swine farm in Thailand. Eighty-four wastewater samples from the digester were collected during the observation period of 302 days. Appropriate influent and effluent regions were selected for wastewater collection. Treatment efficiencies of the system were evaluated by key parameters such as chemical oxygen demand (COD), soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD), total solids (TS), total suspended solids (TSS) and total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN). In addition, microbiological parameters such as …

Effects Of Vitamin D3 And Calcium On Productive Performance, Egg Quality And Vitamin D3 Content In Egg Of Second Production Cycle Hens, Hatairat Plaimast, Suwanna Kijparkorn, Punyaphat Ittitanawong Jun 2015

Effects Of Vitamin D3 And Calcium On Productive Performance, Egg Quality And Vitamin D3 Content In Egg Of Second Production Cycle Hens, Hatairat Plaimast, Suwanna Kijparkorn, Punyaphat Ittitanawong

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of supplementary vitamin D3 on productive performance, internal egg quality, eggshell quality, apparent calcium digestibility and vitamin D3 content in egg of second production cycle hens fed on different levels of calcium. A total of 140 second cycle brown-egg laying hens, aged 98 weeks, were randomly divided into 5 treatments with 4 replicates. The treatments consisted of diets containing 3.5%Ca and 2,000 IU of vitamin D3/kg of feed (control), 3.5%Ca and 6,000 IU of vitamin D3/kg of feed (treatment 2), 3.75%Ca and 2,000 IU of vitamin D3/kg of feed (treatment 3), 3.75%Ca …

Reproductive And Dairy Performances Of Thai Swamp Buffaloes Under Intensive Farm Management, Thuchadaporn Chaikhun, Ranchuan Hengtrakunsin, Fabio De Rensis, Mongkol Techakumphu, Siriwat Suadsong Mar 2012

Reproductive And Dairy Performances Of Thai Swamp Buffaloes Under Intensive Farm Management, Thuchadaporn Chaikhun, Ranchuan Hengtrakunsin, Fabio De Rensis, Mongkol Techakumphu, Siriwat Suadsong

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

In this study the reproductive and dairy performances of swamp buffaloes under intensive farm conditions were evaluated. The data of reproduction and milk production were collected from forty-eight swamp buffaloes during the period of 2001 to 2010. The reproductive and dairy performances were analyzed as mean±SD of each index. The age at first calving was 47.1±8 months and the gestation period was 321.4±11.3 days. The service per conception was 3.5±2.5, with insemination by both natural and artificial mating. The calving interval and the days open were 486.2±75.02 and 166.2±69.7 days (n=99), respectively. Additionally, there was a large increase in primiparous …

Effects Of Dietary Melamine Or Urea-Formaldehyde Or Their Mixtures On Performance, Carcass Quality, Melamine Residues And Microscopic Changes In Broiler Tissues, Srisuda Sirilaophaisan, Jowaman Khajarern, Bundit Tengjarernkul Dec 2010

Effects Of Dietary Melamine Or Urea-Formaldehyde Or Their Mixtures On Performance, Carcass Quality, Melamine Residues And Microscopic Changes In Broiler Tissues, Srisuda Sirilaophaisan, Jowaman Khajarern, Bundit Tengjarernkul

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

A study was conducted to determine the effects of dietary graded levels of melamine, urea-formaldehyde (UF) and their mixture on growth performance, carcass quality, melamine residues and microscopic changes in broiler tissues from d-1 to d-42 followed by a 7-d feeding of withdrawal diets. One thousand and forty 1-d-old equal mixed-sex Arber Acres broiler were assigned to 13 dietary treatments with 4 replicate pens of 20 chicks assigned to each treatment. The diets of melamine, UF and their mixture contained four graded levels (0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00%) but no melamine or UF was added to the control diet. There …
