The maintenance of corneal and normal eye function is necessary for the ocular health and integrity. Tear plays an important role in defense mechanism and nutrition of eye. The Schirmer tear tests (STT I, II) are widely used in ophthalmic examination to evaluate tear production as an aid to diagnose eye diseases. The aim of this study was to compare the different effect of anesthetic combinations and their action period on tear production in healthy rabbits. Forty healthy New Zealand female rabbits (mean weight 2.34 ± 0.67 kg), four months old, were used as materials. The animals were divided into …

This study was conducted to assess the effect of dried tomato pomace (DTP) feeding on the carcass characteristics and the quality of the meat of growing rabbits. For this purpose, 54 weaned rabbits (40 days old) were divided into three equal groups and fed isoproteic and isoenergetic diets. The first group was the control group (CON), while the other two groups were fed 10 (DTP-10), and 20 (DTP-20) percent DTP for 6 weeks. Eighty-three-day-old rabbits were slaughtered then, the carcass characteristics, mechanical and sensorial tenderness of the meat were determined. Rabbits fed with DTP-10 had the highest final weight at …

Bone healing is a different and unique process that results in complete bone tissue, rather than ending in scar formation. However, more significant bone defects may fail to regenerate and forms scary granulomatous tissue. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of transforming growth factor-ß (TGF - ß) via platelet rich plasma (PRP) in rabbit tibia bones with segmental bone defects by radiological and immunohistological methods. Tibial segmental defects were performed to adult New Zealand rabbits (n = 10) on both legs. 0.5 mL of PRP was administered to the defect zone on one leg (PRP group), while the other …
