The Structure, Mortality And Growth Of The Tench [Tinca Tinca (L., 1758)] Population In Çivril Lake, Denizli, Turkey, Süleyman Balik, Hasan M. Sari, Mustafa Ruşen Ustaoğlu, Ali̇ İlhan

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The population structure, mortality and growth of the tench [Tinca tinca (L., 1758)] in Çivril Lake was investigated, using 506 fish caught with various gill nets between February 1998 and January 1999. The percentages of females and males in the population were 38.34% and 61.66%, respectively, and the overall female-male sex ratio was 1:1.61. Specimens ranged from 11.4 to 28.8 cm in fork length, and from 27.7 to 420.4 g in weight. The age distribution was I-V in the population. For all individuals, the length-weight relation and von Bertalanffy growth parameters were W = 0.018 L^{3.01}, and L_{\infity} = 33.85 …

Chromosome numbers and structures were investigated in (Tinca tinca L., 1758) of the family Cyprinidae. A solution of 1 ml/100 g of 0.1% colchicine was injected intramuscularly. Four hours later the fish were killed and the kidney and gills were removed and cytogenetic methods were applied. Metaphase chromosomes of the cells in these tissues were investigated numerically and morphologically. It was determined that the fish have 2n = 48 diploid chromosomes made up of 6 pairs of metacentric, 8 pairs of subtelocentric and 10 pairs of acrocentric. The average haploid chromosome length was 2.191 µ. The chromosomes were named and …

This study was carried out between January 1996 and December 1997 in Kayaboğazı Dam Lake. During this period 424 specimens were examined. The age of females and males ranged from I to VII. The fork length and weight of females and males were 102-277 mm and 15-377.02 g and 125-274 mm and 27-369.02 g, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference between females and males in terms of body length and weight. The sex ratio (male:female) was 0.947:1. Gonadosomatic index values varied from 1.40 to 10.19. The sexual maturity age for males and females was III and IV, respectively. The spawning …
