Comparing The Birth Rates Of Microinjected Hybrid Mouse Zygotes Transferred Into Outbred And Hybrid Foster Mothers, Haydar Bağiş, Levent Keski̇ntepe, Hande Odaman Mercan, Hakan Sağirkaya, Şaki̇r Sekmen

The purpose of this study was to compare the birth rates after transfers of microinjected hybrid mouse zygotes into hybrid CB6F1 (C57BL/6J X BALB/c) and outbred CD-1 foster mothers. One or two hours after microinjection of a \beta -actin-Gfp gene construct into the male pronucleus, hybrid mouse zygotes were transferred into CB6F1 and CD-1 foster mothers. In addition, non-microinjected hybrid zygotes were transferred into foster mothers of both strains. The overall data demonstrate that outbred CD-1 foster mothers are a better choice for transfer of microinjected hybrid mouse embryos, and there was a statistical difference between the transfers of microinjected …

The objective of the present study was to transfer sheep embryos produced in vitro to recipient ewes. Ovaries were taken from slaughtered Kıvırcık ewes and transferred to the laboratory in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) at 30-35 ºC. The cumulus-oocyte complexes were obtained by slicing and washing 1-6 mm diameter follicles and matured for 24 h in medium 199 supplemented with sodium pyruvate, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH) and 10% fetal calf serum (FCS) at 38.5 ºC under 5% CO_2 in humidified atmosphere. Fresh semen was collected from three Kıvırcık rams, pooled and prepared for in vitro fertilization by …

Effects Of Embryo-Transfer, Recipient-Donor Mother And Environment On Lamb Weaning Weight And Variance Components, Mustafa Saatci, Ioan Ap Dewi, Zafer Ulutaş

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Factors affecting lamb weaning weight (WW) and the (co)variance components due to direct and maternal effects on weight were investigated using a small data set based on ewes involved in an embryo transfer trial. Records of 253 Welsh Mountain lambs for adjusted 50 day weaning weight were obtained from the nucleus flock of the CAMDA co-operative breeding scheme. DFREML was used for variance component analyses. Significant fixed effects included in the model were rearing dam age, sex, rearing type and year. Six different models were used to analyse variance components. Obtained h^2 walues from the models were 0.104, 0.034, 0.057, …
