This study was carried out to determine the prevalence of Cryptosporidium spp. oocysts in diarrhoeic calves in Kars province. The study was conducted between February 1999 and June 1999, involving 140 diarrhoeic calves from 8 different localities (Kars-Central district, Karakaş, Bulanık, Karakale, Hacıhalil, Boğazköy, Susuz-Central district, and Arpaçay). These localities were visited once during the study period, and fresh faecal samples were taken from the rectums of the calves up to 3 months old. This reseacrh was carried out fron November 1995 to October 1997 in Kazova Kaz Lake of tokat province. In this period, a total of 759 Common carp ( Cyprinus carpio L., 1758) were examined. The aim of this study was to determine some reproduction features of the common carp i.e. the spawning season, fecundity, maturity age and sex ratio. The spawning took place from March to April. Both the males and females were found to attain maturity when two years old.

In this study, a total of 365 cattle (234 male, 131 female) slaughtered in different localities in Thrace (The European part of Turkey) were examined for hypodermosis between January and May of 1997. Hypoderma bovis, H. lineatum and unidentified 2nd instar larvae were found in the skin and subcutaneous tissue of the back region of the animals. The prevalence rate and intensity of infestation were 3.56% and 10.23 respectively.

A Case Of Alaria Alata In A Dog, Şinasi Umur

One of the 20 necropsied stray dogs in Kars city was found naturally infected with three adults of Alaria alata (Goeze, 1782). This is the first report of A. alata from dogs in Turkey. The parasites were measured 2.34 (2.27-2.40) mm in length and 1.46 (1.43-1.50) mm in width.

An investigation was made on the gonadosomatic index (GSI) and egg diameter of the specimens of the Common Carp ( Cyprinus carpio) caugth from Çildir Lake in the period of 1991-93. The most intensive period for the reproduction was recorded in June-August, when water temperatures were 12.9, 19.6°C respectively.
