This integrative review aimed to explore the effects of boxing exercises on the quality of life (QOL) of people with Parkinson’s Disease (PwP). Boxing exercise programs are popular in the Parkinson’s Disease (PD) community. Decreasing motor symptoms tends to be a primary focus in exercise and PwP. However, non-motor symptoms are a side effect of PD that varies amongst individuals and can impact QOL. Understanding the effects of boxing, especially on non-motor QOL, can support practitioners when prescribing specific exercise modalities for PwP. PURPOSE: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease that ultimately requires a power wheelchair (PWC) as the main source of mobility. The purpose of this project was to determine the effectiveness of an educational video to prepare a client for a PWC assessment by addressing four themes: PWC features, home environment, transportation, and client self-efficacy.

METHODS: An educational video was created and used in an ALS Multidisciplinary Clinic to better prepare clients for the PWC evaluation process. The effectiveness of this video was measured using a seven-question Likert scale survey focusing on the themes of the video. Individuals living …

DVT’s often occur because of complications after orthopedic surgery. Common risks factors for DVT are vein injury, slow blood movement, increase estrogen, and chronic medical illness (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2018). Implementing A Walking Program For Sedentary Patients In A Weight Management Clinic, Bailey Tetrault

Background: Promoting physical activity in weight management patients promotes better patient outcomes.
Methods: Weight management clinic patients were enrolled in the 6-week Walk with Ease (WWE) program. At the first session, each participant’s walking distance was measured over a 20-minute timeframe using pedometers. WWE group met 3 times weekly for six weeks for walking activities and with education on movement, mobility, and strength. At each session, the walking distance of participants was measured over 20 minutes. Race, gender and age descriptive were also collected.

Introduction: The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases has surpassed 579 million globally. Symptoms during and after COVID-19 infection vary from mild cold symptoms to severe multisystem illness. Given the wide range of symptom presentations and complications post COVID-19, the purpose of this study was to describe the lived experience of American adults surviving COVID-19.

Method: This study employed an exploratory qualitative description design. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with a sample of 35 individuals, [white (94%), female (71%), mean age = 43.7 years], with proximity to a university in an urban Midwest American city.
